I am currently listening to a commercial telling me that to have realistic theater experience at home I need BOSE Lifestyle home entertainment system to give me the emotional impact of the way directors intended movies to be.

Oh the poor paying public out there, all the poor ignorant people that will believe this Horse pucky.

There ought to be a law against such false advertising.

Uh, sort of, but mostly they're promoting the FALSE idea that Bose = better sound! Not cool. I can't watch Bose commercials without feeling ill.

Bose offers better sound then 95% of the public is used to so I see it as a good thing. I've always owned good audio setups. Top of the line klipsch speakers, Polk SDA series, Tube amps and so on but we use a small 321 system in the bedroom for a simulated surround sound and the sound is tight, clear, warm and detailed. I can't complain for $499.

HT sound is all fiction. It's not like listening to music.

What is it that 95% of the public is used to that could possibly sound worse than Bose? Even average TV speakers sound better than Bose!

Thank you for the stunning political insight. AVSForum is a great place for such stuff.

Excuse me, I have to drive to McD's to grab a Big Mac. I'll be listening to the Bose system in my luxury 12mpg SUV. It has baby seal skin seats. I clubbed the seals myself. I may run over a few immigrants on my way. Don't worry, I'll be listening to NPR, BBC world news, and maybe Al-Jazeera. Hopefully they can cure my ignorant ways. Hopefully.

Kinda like the idea that 24 track digital equals better sound than tape. :D

This has got to be the stupidest Bose thread I have yet to see here. WTF would you expect them to say.
"Buy a Bose Lifestyle system for $3000 and you can get worse performance than many other brands and combos of speakers and recievers that cost less than half that investment. But you will have the Bose badge on your system. Just think of all the oooohs and ahaaaas your non audiophile freinds will utter when they see it. "

Sheesh

OK, so why *again* do we need a bigger one?

I think saying something like this just shows how prejudice or ignorant some people are. Can you point me to the TV that has speakers that can hit 40 hz and give an impact effect?

OK, so why *again* do we need a bigger one?

I still see people with HDcable, DVD and a couple of video games systems, all run directly to the tv with no outboard audio....these people would cream their pants if they hooked the audio up to a Bose system. Do we all sincerely hope they would listen to other systems that represent a potentially better SQ value? Yes, but tv speakers and NO surround SUCKS.
AT LEAST BOSE HAS STARTED MANY PEOPLE'S JOURNEY INTO THE WORLD OF BETTER AUDIO.

I was pretty sure before, but now I can say with certainty that I will never work at a Bose store.

How would you know this? Bose's specs are so terrible that they refuse to publish them out of sheer embarassment.

A: Some people have taken the liberty to measure them. According to http://www.intellexual.net/bose.html (which posted Sound & Vision measurements, it measures down to 46Hz at -2.3dB. By the graph it is below 40Hz at -5dB. Is this great performance? Obviously not; I've seen $100 subwoofers do better. However, I doubt a TV could match up with it.

B: They do publish sparse specs on some of their products (professional line). The 801, which is similar in many respects to the 901 easily breaks 100Hz.

I am not a fan of Bose, and I did have an older accostimass system (I was young and didn't know better) and I will say while they are not great, and are overpriced, they are far superior to any TV speakers, and to claim they are not is asinine.

Also a good article for someone who thinks a TV speaker sounds better than a bose set up so they know how wrong that statement is.

I didn't read every bit of it, so I don't know where they said or implied that the Bose sounded as good as TV speakers. Most TV speakers don't have a huge gap from 202-280hz, and most can do better than 13.3khz as a -10db limit.

You, of course, have supporting measurements that indicate that right?
