Sorry damn iPhone. I'm Mobil and don't know how to edit. I was saying. Everyone's saying I can get book shelves, a center, and a great sub and it would sound far batter than the OTBs would for that large room. ???

Does not look like a very big room to me. My room is 28' wide by 20' deep, with high ceiling and open to kitchen with breakfast table, dining room, and two hallways (no walls). Mod2 orbs in front and Mod1 in rear on ceiling with Hsu sub do just fine there. Maybe mount your flatscreen above the fire place, place L&R on either side, and presence speakers up high?

Go listen to them somewhere, you'll be surprised. Oh, and then there is the wife-acceptance factor ;-)

Hey Guys, I am so sorry if I have multiple posts for similar topics. Without getting into why, I will make sure that doesn't happen again.

Update 4/7/2014 9:20PM. I am NOT Getting Orb! My Room is way too big and they are beautiful, but too much $$$ for what I get for my Room.

I am considering getting a 5.1 Bowers & Wilkins System for my Living Room with one of the following:

Center:

-Bowers and Wilkins - 6-1/2" 3-Way Center-Channel Speaker - Gloss Black ($1,249.98)

-Bowers and Wilkins - 6-1/2" 3-Way Center-Channel Speaker - Black Ash Vinyl ($649)

-Bowers and Wilkins - 600 Series HTM61 S2 Dual 6-1/2" 3-Way Center-Channel Speaker ($750)

Book Shelve Speakers:

-Bowers and Wilkins - 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers (Pair) - Painted Gloss Black $1,499 Pair)

Rear Sattelite Speakers:

-Bowers and Wilkins - 4" 100W Satellite Speaker (Each) - Matte Black ($249 each)

Sub Woofer:

HSU, Rythmik, SVS, Bowers & Wilkins

I am debating on WHICH Bower & Wilkins Center Channel I should get? The $649, $750, or the $1249???

What do you guys think of my possible choice?

Thanks

Are you just ignoring my posts or what? I'm sure there is a B&W forum somewhere, but this is the Orb Speakers forum?

I just pulled the trigger on a super eight for a system that's for music only with a pair of polk 330t's on Sherbourn 100a monoblocks running off an outlaw 950 preamp.. I wanted something small with good punch that wasn't too over the top expensive and the super eight seemed to fill those requirements.. hopefully the amp holds out for a good while.. it seems like the primary complaint on these is the amp dying after a couple years. Is this the case??

Listening: Outlaw Audio 950 | Sony CDPCX355 | 2x Marantz MA-700 + 2x MA-6100 | Energy RC-70 bi-amped + SVS PB-1000
HT: Pioneer Elite SC-71 AVR | LG 60PV450 plasma | all BIC 7 speaker surround + Klipsch sub-12hg | Sony BDP-S350 | WD TV

well, I ended up cancelling my order.. not because of the potential for amp failure but because I wanted to wait for my system to break in a bit and listen to what I really need for bottom end. Orb was super cool about cancelling the order, I got through to someone very fast also. Seems like a company with good pr which was refreshing. When I finally make my sub purchase I am thinking more Uber Ten than the eight now. Thanks for your reply also.

Just completed upgrading my Mod1 set-up to Mod2s all round with a Mod4 centre connected to my AVR-X3000.

I recently upgraded from Logitech Z-5500 and couldn't be happier.

I do like the Galo's, but here in Oz, they are just too expensive.

Very happy Orb customer here.

Hi,

not sure if i have asked this before, but has anyone mixed their orbs speakers.

I want more range on the front speakers so maybe changing the front two L and R channel for stereo speakers or the Left Right and Centre channel.
something like monitor audio BX series or used Mission speakers the 75 series.

any feedback appreciated

7.1 setup
Mode 4 centreo
Mod 2 for Fronts and Backs
Mod 1 for Rear Backs
SVS Sub

Thanks

I mix mine. I have what you might call an eclectic mix. Some people are sensitive to the different sound of each speaker. To me the mix of different speakers is just an extension of how sound naturally changes slightly as its direction changes. But that is just my opinion.

I have a 7.1 setup with mod 2 center and mod 1's for the rear surrounds. I have a pair of 25 year old Magneplanar speakers for the fronts and a pair of twenty year old Polk garage sale finds for the side surrounds. The Polks were probably the best bargain I've ever bought at a garage sale. I bought them 20 years ago but they're at least 30 years old. $5 for the pair. They were made back when moderately priced speakers were made pretty well. For my sub I have a moderately priced Infinity that is about 10 years old. I do like to treat my speakers well and keep them a long time.

Ok I going to try mix my speakers that together, I have some Mission 751 for fronts and Mission 75c for the centre. See how it sounds.

If anyone has 2 x silver mods and 2 X boss Wall mounts that the are thinking of getting rid of I might be interested. might

Hi,

OK I have swapped the two front mod2 and the centre mod4 with the mission 75 series so Mission 751 bookshelf speakers and the mission 75C now these were recommended to me as being really good speaker.

I uses everything exactly the same Just swapped the speakers for my test and even had the amp on the same settings first and then adjusted to the new speaker types.

All I can say is the orbs were much better for movies and for dynamics. You can hear a lot of the smaller sounds at low volume.

I want to mod my rear 6th and 7th Channel to mod2 for more balanced sounds.

I tested the b&w m30 and the orbs were way better.

I wonder how they compare next to the monitor audio range like the apex?

Thanks

Hi,

is there any after market brackets for the mod2 setup that work with the orbs? the Boss mounts are too expensive, especially when shipping to the UK as you have shipping fee and import duty tax.

any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

has anyone tested the orbs against the new kef e301 speakers with the new uni-q drivers?

I have the kef q300 in another stereo system and must say they are very detailed and clear with a sense of 3d sound.

I thinking of having the kef q300 for fronts , q200c centre and kef e301 for rears.

any feedback is appreciated not sure how much the new kef drivers are better than the old models.

Thanks

I also looked at the measurements for the single vs. double Orb speakers. The frequency response is identical; the only difference is the loudness due to change in impedance (8 to 4 ohm).
