I have a pretty small room (11 x 13) that I will use for HT and also live in a condo, so can't disturb neighbors too much TV is Panasonic 50" 9UK.

I've read all the posts on Gallo and Orbs but still not sure which one is a better choice. 50% movies / sports , 30% just watching TV, and 20% music.

I am down to the following choices:

Orb: 4 mod1 and 1 mod2 for center + super 8 sub
Gallo: 5 Adivas + TR-1 sub

Value: Gallo system is about 1/3 more expensive than Orb including 5 wall mounts and shipping

Orb has a better sub (although I can't play my system that loud, so may not be a big advantage). I did install base shakers in my couch to compensate. Orb is also a few hundred cheaper

But for Orb, need to do a crossover at 150, worried that may be an issue especially for music and not all receivers support that. Thought about getting mod2s instead of mod1s but they don't really improve the crossover frequency.

With Gallo Adiva, can do crossover at 100 and feel better about it (80 may be pushing it).

Based on specs, Gallo Adivas should give me better overall sound since they go down to at least 100. In practical terms, don't know if the Orb sub can compensate enough to hide the high crossover.

Am I missing anything?

I can't see any reason to expect the Gallo sats to reproduce any lower than the Orbs.

Gallo Adivas are larger (5") than the Orbs and rated to about 85 hz with wall installation (but probably closer to 100 hz). They theoretically should sound fuller than the Orbs.

Gallo Micros (4") are the ones that are about the same size as Orbs, going down to around 150 hz

I have listened to both for a long, long time. I wound up buying a couple complete sets of the Orbs. This is my opinion only but the Gallo's defintely do not sound better and especially at the price they charge for them...Good Luck.

Oh one other thing, the Orb Sub absolutely smoked that thing I was listening to with the Gallo's.

http://www.cabasse-usa.com/english/eole/

The Eole builds on the previous Xo2 -- which was a world class point-souce speaker similar in form factor to the ones mentioned so far in this thread.

Good listening,
John
