Hi there,

I wanted to get some new speaker wire, and was looking at monoprice dot com since they have really good deals, but they are out of stock and have been out of stock for awhile. Are there any other comparable online shops with comparable prices to monoprice? I'm looking for either 10 or 12 gauge.

Thanks!

Our home depot carries 12gauge speaker wire for 55cents per foot. That doesnt come close to monoprice though.

Frys (I think they also have an internet site) sells 12-gauge wire for 40 cents per foot.

Home Depot "HD-14" cable works out at about 33c per foot. Incredible sound for the price IMHO.

[edit] BTW it's "only" 14 gauge if you must have 10 or 12. But then again you can always combine all three 14 gauge strands and run two lengths per channel. Of course that will double the price

Monoprice has good prices on 12 gauge cable.
http://www.monoprice.com/products/su...d=10239&style=
$24.95 for 100 feet! You can't beat that.

They're currently out of all speaker wire though, so if you can't wait until the end of February, RamElectronics might be your next best bet.

$46.15 for 100 feet of 12 gauge.

I just picked up some 16 Gauge Monster THX. Yes I overpaid ($20 for 50') but will this cable be OK for my Onkyo 604 and Athena Micra setup?

Just want to make sure I'm not spoiling the system with cheap cable.

Thanks!

12 gauge Home Depot cable (the stuff on the reel - made by Carol) is FAR better speaker cable than the 16 gauge Monster...and far less expensive.

But can you really hear a difference in a 5.1 system in a 12x12 room?

Hope not...

I think the response was more about saving you money rather than getting you better quality. Can you tell the difference? Probably not, but you CAN feel the difference on your wallet.
