That's what I was thinking. There's a used pair of 40's on ebay asking 649!

I caved!

Those 40's have been posted on there for months on end, maybe even coming up on a year. The $75 is a fantastic price, but 4 hours round trip to do business with someone who won't do anything to help me out (either driving a short distance to lessen my trip, or knock off $15-25) doesn't seem worth it to me. He also reneged on his willingness to drive 20 minutes to meet me, so right now I say ef that.

It's the second iteration of the OEM tweeter replacements. Only $30/each, which in my opinion ain't too bad.
Thanks for the replies. I was wondering if the new reference series speakers would fit as they are also 1" cmmd tweeters.

Hi guys Im fairly New to the forum, and love it! Glad to see Im not the only one still in love with their Betas!

I have a 7.1 setup, consisting of 2 Beta 50's, a C360 ( purchased used on ebay to replace my C250 for 175.00 shipped, looks and sounds Brand New), and 4 in wall ERS 210's-2 for L&R surr., and 2 for L&R surr. backs! My sub is a Def. Tech. Supercube 1... All speakers were purchased new in 2007 except the beta C360 was bought in July of 2012. Just love how this setup sounds in my 16 x14 room with vaulted ceilings....

My AVR is a newly added Denon 4100w... My display is a 65" Panasonic 1080p Plasma... its nice to still have these speakers and gone through 3 AVR's.... My previous AVRs were a Denon 3805, then a Onkyo 806 which had its hdmi board Die 2 weeks ago!

I gave my C250 and a pr. of beta 20s to my parents for there 5.1 setup for LCR....

Oh and forgot my 2 ERS 110s in Zone 2 ( garage )...

Has anyone compared one of the DIY seos designs with infinity beta 50 or 20 speakers and share how they sound in comparison. I called revel to get the replacement tweeter for my speakers but they don't have any in stock currently. I will keep calling them or place a pre-order.

Quick update

Got couple of tweeters from Revel and my beta 20s are back in business. Missed them so much. Can't wait to crank them tomorrow morning.

Came across some beta 50s locally on CL. So tempted to try for them just to upgrade my polk t15 bookshelf speakers. Already have a matching 360 center. Just don t have the room for them among other things. But theyd be such a cheap and awesome upgrade

So I was looking around, trying to find a supplier for tweeters for my Beta series speakers.
I contacted Revel, asking for replacement parts for the Concertia F12's, and this is the email I got in response. I thought you would all benefit from this information.

Thank you for your inquiry. Here is the parts information you have requested.

PART NUMBER : N362820-001 (REVEL F12 TWEETER ASSY)
PRICE : $29.40

Shipping fees apply based on your location.

Parts can be ordered by sending an email to: luxuryaudioparts@harman.com

does the assembly include the wave guide, or just the tweeter?

If it includes the wave guide, is it a direct drop-in for any of the beta's?

Just the tweeters, doesn't include any waveguide. The tweeter is a drop in replacement, i cannot notice any difference looks or sound wise.

Ok, here is a good opinion question for everyone.

My system currently uses Beta 50's, A C360 and ES250's for surrounds. All 5 speakers are driven by an Emotiva XPA-5, directly connected to my HTPC's Asus Xonar. I also have an Infinity 12" sub, though I can't for the life of me remember what model. It isn't the beta series sub.

I am planning on migrating this system into a modest home theater.

The theater build will include absorbtion bass traps in the corners, and panels at the 1st reflection points. If possible, I will put some panels on the front wall as well.

The original concept for the theater would be to build an Acoustically Transparent screen, placing my C360 and Beta 20's behind the screen.

I am concerned that I may loose some of the "big" sound of the 50 towers if I replace them with 20's.

Any opinions?

Thanks.

Shouldn't lose any of the weightiness of the 50's by stepping down to the 20's, especially if you're mainly using this room as a theater for TV/movies. Surround setups put so much responsibility on the center and sub, the fronts and surrounds only really provide the soundtracks and directional sounds any more. Any part of the soundtrack with weight sends those LFE signals to the sub, and by replacing the 50's with the 20's I think you'll be fine. Make sure you have them high enough so that they're either right at or only slightly above your ears in the listening position. Don't forget that Mr. Hart, the designer of the Beta series, runs/ran front 20's in his setup, not 40's or 50's.

I've got 20's in my 13x13x9 bedroom (5.0 system, 4 full-range 20's and a C360) and use them for 2.0 channel music while getting ready all the time with just my little 50w/channel Marantz NR1604. While the 20's put a lot more of the freq range on the woofer (vs the 3-way 50's with the mid), they do a good job of providing sonic impact on their own - note the 5.0 setup, and each time there's something bassy in whatever we're watching, my wife and I are still astonished at what the 20's can do by themselves. Music-wise, at higher volumes the 20's clarity becomes a bit sacrificed, but I'm certain that's just be the limits of the Marantz at those levels.

Side note: I only have the 20's in my bedroom because I've got 40's in my TV room with another C360 and OWS-1's for rears and front heights, and my pair of 50's I use in my 2 channel setup in my living room. This has me thinking I might try my 20's in my TV room for a short stint to see how they stack up to the 40's in the 'theater space.' Will update you if I do.

Best of luck!
