Athena was good with last year models B1 B2 F1 F2..but this year LS series is not that great..
6.1 over 5.1 will give you nothing more but more expense for the moment...not enought 6.1 content.
Main use for speakers will be movies. I will also use them alot with concert dvds (multi channel) I won't really be doing any stereo listening. I want speakers that are dynamic, alot of range. I like really crisp highs
Everything in this sentence confirm that you need Polk audio speakers! Still I prefer 5.1 setup to 6.1 because you have to buy 2 speaker pair for rear!
here's the ideal kit if you can afford it:
Polk RTI 8 front
Polk FXI3 rear or RTI4 ( 2 pair for 6.1 or 7.1)
Keep your center and your subwoofer if you want
you can also choose bookshelf with excellent sound quality.
FXI3 rear or RTI4 ( 2 pair for 6.1 or 5.1)
Also in JBL:
3 way stadium front floorstander
rear jbl monitors
no bookshelf kit recommended.
Jbl has a very good sound for movies (used in many cinemas), tweeter is little less detailed compared to polk, mids sound different too. you'll have to listen.
On a budget for a receiver here's the prefered choice usually better than sony offering:
Pioneer 1016 ( well balanced, full featured and punchy receiver)
Harman kardon AVR 245 ( little more bright)
Pioneer 816 ( best bargain on the market)
Yamaha 5960 ( good match with polk, very smooth natural sound)
