The cabinets for the Aerial 7C's will be landing in California in 2 weeks. This is the info from Aerial. I'm no speaker builder so I'm not sure how long it takes to put the product together. If I would guess late Jan. to mid Feb.

Nice store looks well laid out. I'd say just a step above Best Buy. That's the first I heard 7T. It is probably appropriate being the price falls at around $10,000. I'll be intrested in the workmanship of the cabinets being they were made in China. The cost in Europe became to high and probably would have added $2,000 more to the cost. Western governments increasing rules and taxes are making it impossible to make a quality product at a reasonable price anymore.

I spoke with Aerial a month or so ago and they did mention they might change the name as the the concept for the 7C developed into something completely different. This is when they mentioned 7T to me.

THE Aerial 7T are shipping today at a local dealer. There are three finishes: Ferrari metalic black, Cherry and Rosenut(I Believe). All of the finishes are gloss finishes. All are at the same price point. Around 9700. That was from Michael Kelly. No I'm not a dealer. Just an owner of their 7b/cc5/sr3.

The new Model 7T's should be on the Aerial Web site so Google and other search engines can pick up on them. I highly respect Michael Kelly and his products but think that his marketing should be boosted. YMMV

We should have our first pair of 7T's by Wed or Thu this week. I'll post findings as soon as we have them. Michael Kelly is very, very excited about this speaker, if they are half as good as he promises they should be awesome.

I'm in Westchester, NY if anyone is in the area.

Michael Kelly is currently at the CES this week with the 7T. Hopefully there's going to be some blogs with some comments on the speaker this week. I'm sure plenty of writers will be lining up to schedule reviews for their Mags.

I doubt it at this point unless the 7T steals sales from the Model 9. Supposedly after the release of the 7T the System 2 is to be worked on and released. Then I would suspect the Model 6 would get an update.

Hard to tell from picture what kind of Build quality it is. But I dont like the looks of the front baffle. I prefer the baffle to match the rest of the cabinets.

Thanks,

Read a CES report from Absolute Sound and they gave the 7T a big thumbs up. Fit and finish was Aerial quality sound wise vg tight bottom end and unlike all the other current Aerials very easy to run. Used an 80wpc Peachtree amp. Looks like another winner!!!

Well, I heard the the new 7T a couple of weeks ago. They have a high gloss rose nut finish compared to my 7b rosewood satin finish. They are very elegant speakers to look at. Given they have not been fully broken in. They had a few hours on them...I believe about 72 hours or so Compared to my 7bs the 7T are more open at the top and the bass extends lower than my 7b. The Mid-range drivers are very clear and not muddy. Very wide sound stage...not as wide as the 9 though. They certainly were not harsh by any means, but certainly more dynamic in sound quality than my 7b. I auditioned them for an hour and flipping between them and the 9. The 9 are too much speaker for my room. The 7T certainly would be an upgrade. The price of the 7T is 9700 and the 9 are over 11k.

I think people will be surprise how different the new Aerial 7T sounds to the 6, 7b, 9 and 10T. I have never heard the 20T or LR5(well maybe...I have the CC5). One word to describe them ...hmmm..... 7T are Dynamic... 7b are more flat compares to them. Sorry I forgot what amps were driving them but it was not a tube amp. I bet they would sound even better after a 200-300 hours on them.

My setup:
7b/c5/sr3
Llano Trinity 200x3
Aragon 4004s

The tweeter is not close to typical Aerial designs. With the exception of the 20T the tweeters have basically been the same forever it seems like in Aerial designs. In a HT setup I wonder how good the 7T's will timbre match with existing Aerial designs. HMMMMMM.........
Is the whole Aerial lineup in for a new design? Or is this just being marketed as a 2CH speaker? Never the less 9.5K is a little rich for my blood for a middle of the Aerial line speaker in my opionion. Im sure it sounds excellent but as a existing 7B owner I am worried about being able to still buy Aerial products.

Thanks,
Carter

Here is a video of the 7T's at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCmyAEu0YrA I do see the speaker build seems to be of very high quality. Also like Jose said the cabinet looks very much like the Dali's. Of cource the Dali and Former Aerial cabinet veneers were made by the same people. I still prefer the look of matching veneer on the front baffle. The video shows that the new baffle looks very elegant. This is not very apparant on the Aerial Web site. Aerial needs a little better pictures on the website to showcase the 7T's a little more.

Thanks,
Carter

Ditto... As good as they sound ...not really sure that they will blend totally with my C5. LR5 would be a better upgrade. Love to get the 9, but the space is a concern. In my dedicated HT, the 7b have done well for me.

I had the opportunity to listen to the 7T at CES, they were at the Peachtree room at the Venetian. Michael Kelly was doing the demo. I was very impressed considering I was just done listening to the $45,000 Vandersteens at their suite. I expected the price to be a lot more than $9700 for the 7T.

I don't doubt your opinion. They are surely very nice 2 channel speakers. My concern is how they would blend with my C5 in the home theater setup. I think the LR5(same all around drivers as the C5) and 9(same mid range drivers) would blend much better. The 7T sound is a departure, although an upgrade from the 7B certainly.

If 2 channel is your priority ....those 7T are great at their price point.

I heard the Paridigm S8 at the same store. The 7T are better in the bottom end.

Thanks for the video, Carter.
I'm still loving my Dali Euphonias but I've always had one eye on the Aerial Acoustics line. Any other input on the 7Ts are appreciated.

I'd like to add my 2 cents worth if I may. Yes, a shade under $10 grand is quite a bit of cash, however, judging by the sound, I'm shocked it didn't cost more. I just heard driven by Mark Levinson separates at my local dealer and was absolutely blown away. Not only was their presentation dynamic and involving (unlike most Aerials IMO), they absolutely threw the deepest 3D sound stage that I have ever experienced in 20+ years in the hoby. Right after I finished enjoying the 7Ts, I played the same tracks on an ARC/Wilson Sasha W/P combo and was underwhelmed in comparison. I think that the new drivers and cabinet are a move in the right direction and may bring the brand back to prominence.

Wonder if a matching center channel is along the way. The 7t are very nice. Maybe I can sneak them in for my regular 7's.

Yes, I was also wondering about center channel compatibility with the 7T's. It seems that the new generation of T's (20 and 7) are designed more for 2 channel use?

I bet a new Center channel is coming soon. Either shortly thereafter the 7T or certainly after the 20T or LR5T comes outs. The LR5 line might drop out? I recalled that the Original c3 center came out shortly after the 7b introduction. I bought the 7b/c3 combo when the 7b was fairly new to their line(replacing the original 7). The better question is based on how long it took to get the 7T into the market, how long would replacement center become available.

I originally have 7B - cc3B combo and decided to upgrade to the new 7T.
So, I email to Aerial about how matching between cc3B and 7T.
The answer from Michael, Aerial Acoustics is here,

"Yes, the 7T has a more open sound and deeper bass than the older 7B.* Even so, the CC3B still works well with it because it is a neutral speaker.* If it were colored and pulling in a different sonic direction, it would not work.* I would continue to use your CC3B now precisely because it is neutral."

Then, I've upgraded to 7T and keep cc3B until there is a new center available in the future.

svirajsilp -- might I inquire as to why you used M&K for rear surrounds and Aerials for side surrounds and chose not to use all of the same brand and model for all of your surrounds -- either M&K or Aerial?

How well did the timbre of the M&K's match the 7B's compared to the Aerial surround speakers? Just curious...

(Gorgeous home and fantastic HT system!!!)

MikeSp,
At first, I've got 4 M&K for all 4 speakers, side and rear.

Then, I've changed to Aerial SR3 for both sides and left M&K at the rear.

SQ is huge better than before. Why I'm still keeping M&K?

Simple answer, no place back there for big speakers like sr3.

However, after calibrated with ARC from my Anthem D2v and checked from a professionals, all speakers performs great and seamlessly.

Cheers,
