Hi Ricjor1

It looks like we are on the same page.....

If only amps were not so expensive to ship; that way I could try several at home in my system.

David Lynch Current Equipment: Marantz AV8801, Proceed HPA3, Parasound HCA-1206, Aerial Acoustics LR5's (LCR), Aerial Acoustics LR3's (sides), RBH in-walls (rears), Seaton Submersive, Marantz VP15s1, 106" Carada BW screen, Oppo BDP-103.

JD, I would suggest that your dealer either genuinely doesn't know what they are talking about, or worse yet is intentionally trying to mislead you in order to make a sale.

Whilst I haven't heard ATI's house branded amps directly, I have heard several of their OEM amps manufactured for Mark Levinson, Lexicon, and more recently Datasat, which are all based incredibly closely to the ATI branded design (with potentially a few component upgrades), and all sound simply superb. Other than AB Amps, I've yet to hear an amp that can even come close to them, and I would suggest that there is little at that price point, that can compete with them.

Thanks Wooki.

I'm shooting myself in the foot for not buying an AB amp when Bob had the 1/2 price promotion.

I did meet Michael Kelly last night (June 3) at the demo session, very nicely orchestrated by AVTherapy in Nashua NH (about 40 minutes north of Boston).

Thoroughly enjoyed speaking with him; highly approachable. We discussed the 6T and 7T. Michael has a preference for the dynamics of the 7T but acknowledges the 6T's have (slightly) better imaging (narrower profile design) which he demonstrated. I don't pretend to be an acoustics expert , but Michael was great at explaining his design/build process. Truthfully, of the time we spoke on and off during the evening, half was about speakers and half was on a variety of topics.

The 5T's were there (center speaker), but - as mentioned above, in a shell format, no drivers installed yet.

Purchased the 6T's.

Wish I could have been there. I know you got the 6t's, I've never heard them but would like to. Did you also hear the 7t's? If so, how would you compare them?

I thought the 5T was to be a bookshelf speaker and the cc3t was the center? Which format did you see? Can you give a rough idea of dimensions compared to the current models?

Hello g_bartman. The main focus of the demo was the 6T's, but the 7T's were right there.
I would defer to Michael's Kelly's assessment when I asked him the same question:
paraphrasing -
"The 7T's outperform the 6T's in all regards except imaging where the 6T has an advantage due to its smaller profile. The 7T's have better dynamics and stronger low frequencies as the main differences. However, at about 1/2 the enclosure volume, the 6T does a very good job"

The speakers share many/most enclosure design and driver/crossover design/technologies so overall the sound is going to be highly similar. Both excellent.

Hello Grit - what was being shown was the new center design. Actually my interest was in the floor standers, so I might have the model # wrong for the center. I can't comment on comparison to current models, sorry.

Thanks for the reply. The 7t's imaging is amazing, I can't imagine speakers that image even better. Leave it to Mr. Kelly to pull another rabbit out if his hat.

I own 7t's and was able to hear the 6t's when Michael Kelly came to our local audio store (Audio Advice). I didn't hear any obvious imaging differences. The big difference to my ears was that the 7t's have a slightly fuller sound. A bit more bass. From a value perspective, I think the 6t's are a great bargain. I'm kind of glad they weren't available when I bought the 7t's. I would probably have bought the 6t's to save $4000. I'm glad I have the 7t's.

I got lucky getting my like new 7t's for a few bucks more than the cost of the 6t's. I got good deals on all my Aerials on the used market.

I was lucky too and found a mint pair slightly used. That being said, with the crazy cost of components today, although 10K is significant, it's relatively cheap when you consider the 7Ts performance.

I doubt there will be much - if any - 'buyer's remorse' when selecting either the 6T or 7T.

What was on display was the new CC7C center. He will have the same Tweeter as the 7T. Look for it to come out sometime at the end of summer, Also the 5T bookshelf will be out in the fall. I don't know when it will happen but the 9T will be next. That will be in the $17,000 range. Can't afford it but would love to hear what that would sound like. If you live in New England and get a pair please invite me over. I'll bring food and adult beverages.smile.gif

Fantastic. Congrats on getting g the 6T's they are great speakers. Add a good sub and your almost in 7T territory. I know John usually offers a nice discount at these events. Did you get one? Plus no sales tax. The owner John has known Michael Kelly for over 20 years. They sold the first set of Aerial 10's at the old store Ensemble. When anything new comes up it goes their first for a public demo. He has 2 or 3 of these open events every year and it's always a lot of fun. Not a snobby high end store. smile.gif

Question for peoples that have the 7T or 6T, is Aerial using the tweeters that look like these ?

I certainly looks like that one but may be different in some way. You could always email Michael Kelly at Aerial Acoustics. It sometimes takes a few days but he's good about answering emails.

Yes, there was a nice discount. The 6T's are now retailing a little above the early web reports, apparently it was too hard in the end to meet the projected price target, but not too much more. In the end, a good deal and an enjoyable event. I have been to the original Ensemble shop as well; the new place is unique and I think they are doing very well there.

I replaced the plates with Silver Audio Silver Shot jumpers cables today that match my speaker cables. I don't want to exaggerate, but everything has improved. No, not a night and day difference, but significant enough that it is easily heard. More space between instruments, slightly clearer mids and more defined bass. Considering the small amount I spent, this is one of the best things I have ever done!

You may get an accurate answer as for what Scanspeak model number Aerial is using now for their 7T and 6T cabinets from Aerial, themselves. They do not evade, as they know people will pay what is required to get the highest-end tweeter. The 20T is still using the ribbon driver. Madisound's top dog now is the Scanspeak, Beryllium tweeters: http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com...eryllium-dome/

Interesting. Today I ordered the AQ PSC+ copper jumpers. My dealer told me being my older 6's are on the warm side and I use tubes for my music they will be a better match for my setup. I am excited to find out the results. I'll get the jumpers in about a week. Also got a nice $50 discount in the process.

The Aerial 6T's arrived yesterday; delivered by AVTherapy (Nashua NH) with a small twist - AVT picked up at Aerial Acoustics (also in the Boston metro area) then driven to our home. Ordered in rosewood, Aerial mistakenly loaded the black versions on board - discovered before unpacking. So, a quick call to Aerial and they dispatched the rosewood versions which arrived less than one hour later. The 'delivery guy' turned out to be a senior person at Aerial - with them since the beginning- and so I received some expert unpacking help and set up tips as a bonus.

Look great, sound better.

Now that's what I call customer service. I'm sure you will enjoy those 6t's for years to come (unless the Aerial upgrade bug hits you) What are you driving them with?

As Aerial site does not have pictures for them, could you take some pictures of yours. I am interested to see how tall they are.

Thanks.

If you go to Audio Video Therapy and go to the Facebook page they will have pictures of the 6T. The 6's are just as tall as the 7's. Just not as wide.

loving and listening to my 6's as we speak. Very easy to listen to. I can (and sometimes do) listen to the 6's all night.

Hopefully later this week. The store usually keeps some in stock but he was sold out. As soon as I get them I'll give a report.
