Hello. When I was installing the Bose Acoustimass system, while the music was playing, the side with the opening was facing the floor(blocking the sound exit). Though it was for seconds, will that do any harm to the subwoofer? How will I know? Thanks for the help!

Shouldn't be a problem ... if you had damaged it you would hear a lot of distortion out of the subwoofer.

Ken,

If you want to get technical then yes, the Bose subs have more distortion than a Velodyne. Distortion is simply the difference of the electrical signal and the converted mechanical energy ... and all speakers will have some level of distortion (I think its typically called out as THD?).

In this case I was using the term distortion for abnormal (higher than usual) amounts edgy, disruptive, inaccurate, and static sounds.

Thanks for the clearification http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif
