I bought a Paradigm PW-2200 just before Christmas and just recently, I cannot help but think it sounds better than it did when I bought it. Nothing has changed. The same interconnect, the same power outlet, the same A/V receiver, etc., but the sub just sounds better. Is this possible?

Yup - same theory as with any full range speakers. It is still a mechanical device, with the rubber surrounds and motor. I'm not sure how long it really takes to break one it. How many hours would you say you've logged on with the new sub?
