I bought some Audio Physic speakers in surround setup after hearing many speakers.
These speakers are true audiophile.
I use the Spark 2005 and Step with the Celsius centre.

Audio Physic Step 2005:

I use this setup in my livingroom:

YES. I have a cherry pair of Audio Physic sparks, the originals with LOW ours on them.I also have a new in the box pair of yara monitors. And lastly,i have celcius center channel. All of my speakers are still in the boxes. If been trying to set up a second home theater system for years, but havent gotten any extra money to do so.I do not wanna go out and buy a receiver and go the cheap route.I wanna do this right and get hi-end equipment to run these things cause thats what they deserve.

I have a pair of Audio Physic Yara's and I love them. Bought them used, I just wish I could find a matching center.

My Yara's are maple. but black or even the silver would work for the center too. The cherry might even be close enough if the price was right.

Checking in... Went from the Focal 826v to the Scorpio II's...night and day difference, everything so sweet with that signature AP wide soundstage. The sounds reach out grab, true what stereophile said it is "scary"

If you need me I'll be in audio nirvana!

Hi Folks. I have a pair of scorpios. Love them!

But I do have a question. I bought the pair for 2ch use and now the room is being used for HT as well. Which means that I need a center ch.

As yall know, they just dont seem to turn up used. Iguess that I could buy a new one but the mark up is pretty steep. Does anyone know of a center from a more common maker that would be a reasonable match?

I run nuforce amplification and have a marantz avr that I use as a pre but that will become an integra pre/pro in the near future of any of that matters.

Thanks!

Then you are not really into HT, as that is the speaker you listen to the most in a movie....

Lot's of low rent stuff stacked up into a medium rent pile.

I am searchign for a new center b/c I am aware of / dont liek the sound of my current center (B&WLCR60).
My hope is / was that with everything that is going on in a blu ray production that I wouldnt notice if my center was not up to the same standards as my 2ch set up.
For me, this might end up being true. I am so blown away by the picture that the fact that I have in ceiling surrounds dosent stop me from enjoying the show.
But, I have asked our local audio physic rep to see if he can locate a couple of thier center ch speakers for demo. I guess that I wonder if the skills needed to create great stereo speakers translate into creating a center that sits on it's side.
I had hoped that one of the more mass market producers would be able to create something that was "good enough" for my tastes for less $ but I havent found it yet. Havent hear the orbs though either...

I heard the original Scorpio and was very impressed. What changes had been introduced to the Scorpio II? I would appreciate if you could give your impressions on both (i.e. if you heard the old version).
Thanks

I personally own a pair of Scorpio's (and a Celsius center speaker) and have listened to the Scorpio II, although not side-by-side. They sound very much the same in my opinion. Both are really good speakers.
I don't know what's changed exactly. At least the mid. speakers are different. The tweeter looks the same.

Thanks, I really like the Scorpio but had a feeling it might not do well in my modest size 21'X17' room. It seems to demand a larger room to really make it sing with the side firing woofers. I am hoping the series II would somehow address this issue.

My experience is that they do need a bit of space around the speaker, but do not necessarily need a very large room.
Your mileage may vary

onnoossendrijver, your inputs are much appreciated. It's still in my short lists of speakers considered for future upgrades and also in my "speaker hall of fame" book. These speakers caught me when I listened to Trijntje Oosterhuis' rendition of close to you. The live presentation, scale and realistic tone and pitch were as Vampyro described "scary" in a sense is very true.

Vocals and soundstage are indeed very strong points of the Scorpio's.
And indeed, Trijntje Oosterhuis sounds terrific

How do you like the celsius? I have a pair of scorpios but never got around to buying an AP center.

I have not heard the Scorps but the scorp II (off the top of my mind) has aluminum drivers... either one you simply cannot go wrong.

The soundstage is warm and as described by my audiophile buddy it "Hugs" you, very true indeed.
If you are into the B&W or Focal type of sound then AP will show you the warmer side of audio with amazing imaging and reach.

The Celsius seems like a nice center but too expensive in my book for what a center does. I like the idea of having the Orbs because of small size and set up. The orbs will be crossed over at about 80 or 120 hz to my HSU sub, which will basically make it full range.

I think the most important part of a HT despite what people commonly say, is the L/R channel.

This is some good reading about the Scorpio II Click Here

The Virgo is NOT replaced by the Scorpio!
It still excists, see the 2009 line up at their site.
Also the new Virgo is a better sounding speaker then the Scorpio with its new tweeter (HHCT).

You're absolutely right Paul, the Virgo is not discontinued. I had a listen last month and was amazed by its presentation and musicality. It's now in my top 3 list for the next speaker upgrade.
