Chris, is that a flared front firing port at the bottom? Those cabinets really look like Usher's Dancer series...

Next best thing to my F2.2's

First, compare class-for-class: Add up cone area and determine if you're looking at a 2, 3, or even 4 way.

Second, if I can help define the Divas, drop me an email or PM. I was involved with the development of both series.

I'm looking at buying a set of the Diva 6.1. My question is regarding the cabinet. Is there a quality difference between the Rosewood and the Black Cherry as far as sound quality goes?

Quote:
Of course, I got it modified with the TK-427, which cheeks it up another, maybe, 3 or 4 quads per channel.

None. I've heard from the experts that there's none.

I have the 6.1s in rosewood, my Dad has the BC. We ran them side-by-side, and they both sounded great.

I wouldn't think there would be, but I wasn't sure if it was made out of the exact same material, or if different material would produce a different sound.

Having my diva swans for 9+ years, (Way back when [a v 1 2 3 . c o m] was the dealer), I've driven them with a Denon 3802, 3805 and currently an Onkyo HT-RC360. All midrange receivers, and all seemed to have plenty of power.

For my Swan T900F's I drive them with a XPA-2/UMC-1 combo.

Amazing sound, plenty of headroom.

So, I'm pretty sure I will pull the trigger on the 6.1 towers and matching center channel. I would like to ask though, what exactly is up with the coating on the mid-range driver on the center channel speaker? I see from the description it says "soft-cloth" mid-range. I've never heard of such a thing. And it looks like it's coated in a thick tar. It's not very attractive looking. Not that looks are what matter when it's behind the grille. But, the mid-range just looks kind of junky and cheap to me. Just curious...

My Swan 5.1 tower (the 6.1's little brother) also uses this mid-range. It's a quality piece.

^ Thanks for the info. Just seemed kind of odd looking, having that look of an un-smoothed coating on there. Seems like people on parts express like it though!

Also, how come the center channel uses a 6ohm configuration? Most centers I have owned run 8ohm, just wondering if there is a particular reason.

The midrange driver demands a 5-6ohm load around the 1-5khz range. Even though its a combo plate, each driver is separate.

^^^ I appreciate the info. I may just go ahead and pick some of these up. They do look to be quite fantastic speakers!

I use a Marantz receiver to drive my RM600s. I thought long and hard about going with a separate amp but spent money on a receiver with a decent amp section and pre-amp outputs for the option to upgrade later. However, I have not come close to hitting the amplifiers limits and do not see the need to go separate anytime soon for my purposes. The RM600s are also not the most sensitive speakers (89dB) and rated at 4 ohms nominal. I think swans are generally rated a bit conservative. More specifically the nominal rating is often close or at the minimum impedance seen across the frequency range. I have seen other speakers rated at 4ohms that drop to 2 ohms or less at certain frequencies.

I use custom built Class D (IRS2092) monoblocks for my F2.2s. ARC's current Class D line uses IRS2092 as well.

Hi leger
Did your RM600 come with additional wood base fitted with tiptoes?

Hi there,

My first post on AVS forum

I just bought a set of 6.3HT and a sub 10D, i was wondering whats the best placement for the 6.3R speakers? I'm planning on mounting them on the sidewall, 1-2 feet above the sofa and maybe a a foot infront of the sofa as well. The DynaVoice "surround" won't be there when I've mounted the 6.3r speakers of course.
Please see the link for further explanation.

They came with two sets of feet that screw into the cabinet. One set that are flat and a set of spikes for carpet. I'm using the latter. Metal threaded if I recall correctly.

I agree with them 100% about the positioning. I found for my room that the T900's sounded best about 8ft apart and the listening position about 6.5-7ft away, with a slight toe in.

My room is 12ft x 12ft, 8ft high.

Great review! Really enjoyed the read. xP

For Jon Lane or Cleveland Plasma:

Helping a friend buy a set of used F2.2HT:

Is the warranty transferrable to a new owner, and if so, how long is it? Current owner bought from a now-defunct dealer here in Virginia about 3 years ago, and can't find his receipt. Would the serial number be of any use?

Speakers look great and sound fantastic, but she's a little leary dropping that much cash with no recourse if there's issues.

Thanks!
