Hey Benniator,

I apologize for any trouble in getting a hold of us - which email address did you use? We've been having a bit of trouble with our support@ozendeavors.com address over the past 2 weeks and are looking into this now (sorry). In the meantime - you're welcome to contact me directly at steve@ozendeavors.com (though I should also see your message if sent to sales@ozhometheater.com).

Feel free to post a question here as well and I'll answer as soon as possible!

Thanks!

Modded? Why not mod it yourself? Simply upgrade components. All the values are likely marked on the caps already.

I have Swan 5.2Fs, 4.2C and 4.2Fs for my rear speakers. Currently powered by a HK 630 and am experiencing some noise during quiet parts of music and movies. It sounds like quite white noise. Any advice on fixing this problem?

are you sure its from your speakers.. usually input sources have some distortion. Possibly an electrical system problem also. I'm sure others will know more than me. If these speakers are a new upgrade for you, then you may be noticing it just because of the finer grain of detail that they play than what you may have had before (just a guess)

Boy I sure do like that C3 with the tweeter on top!

I hope Jon can stir some of those up!

I was not thinking the white noise was coming from the speakers. I am just wondering if anyone else has experianced this whith Harmon Kardon receivers?

I am wondering how the Swan Diva 5.2R used as rear/surround in my 5.1 system would sound compared to the 4.1's I currently use. My thoughts were to move the 4.1's to my gaming room, replacing them with more surround-oriented speakers. I have had most excellent results from using the 4.1's, especially on TrueHD sound tracks. But would a designed-for-surround be better for me?

I was also wondering how the 5.2R would integrate into my system compared to the original Diva line R3. I have 6.1's and a C3 for the front stage. Opinions anyone? Real experience with these?

I do not have Swanns, but do have an HK AVR635. No white noise.

I have had white noise problems in car-audio systems before. In each case, it was something in the signal before reaching the speakers. One time, it was the sub-woofer dedicated amplifier (feedback to the other amps on the power supply side?). Another time, a digital EQ that converted the analog to digital, processed it, then converted back to analog. In competitor's cars, I have seen where poor wiring location caused various noises, but not what I would describe as hiss.

In your case, the search for the cause will be easy.
  1. Turn on the receiver, no active source, and with the volume turned all the way down. Do you hear the identical hiss you have been describing?
    1. If not, increase the volume, does the hiss start?
    2. If not, you have a problem with one of your sources or the wires going to them.
    3. Try different sources, and see which ones have problems with hiss. Also test to see if the hiss occurs with the volume turned all the way off.
  2. If you could hear the hiss with no source in the first test, move your receiver and the speaker to another location (or just to the middle of the room) away from all your other equipment
  3. Using a short raw wire, hook the speaker to the receiver.
  4. Turn on the receiver, but with the volume turned all the way down. Do you hear the identical hiss?
  5. If you do, use one of the other speakers. If you hear the same hiss again, it is coming from your amplifier.
  6. Last thing to check, if there is no hiss with the receiver and speaker pulled away from the other equipment, but is there with the other equipment hooked up. You have a problem with you wiring, or a rogue device plugged in but not the active source. Start removing components, one at a time, and see which is the culprit. It may be as simple as a large loop of wire sitting on a transformer.

Well I pulled the trigger last night and ordered a pair of 6.1s. Got them in BC because as amazing as the rosewood looks the BC actually goes better with our dark/espresso coffee table and oil rubbed bronze fixtures. Maybe I'll go rosewood when I upgrade my HT.

The free shipping is what sold the wife...that and the pictures some people had posted of them in actual rooms. Now I'm waiting for a confirmation from OZ about the order and hoping to get a clue how long it'll take to ship/arrive.

I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas! Thanks to Jon and Steve and Craigsub and a dozen other of you here who have helped me carve my way through this purchase. I've listened to a bunch of new speakers now. I am feeling good about picking the swans (money back guarntee does help me feel more confident of course)...the Swans are the right size, the right look, the right purpose...and frankly all the B&M stuff I've listened to has either left me cold or cost twice as much.

So viva la Swans! Glad to join the club.

Did you get the new pricing that tai is offering? 999 for the 6.1s in rosewood!

Scratch that I just realized you got the 6.1s and not the 6.2s

Yeah ended up paying 849 for the BC 6.1s...plus free shipping. Went with the 6.1s over the 6.2s because a lot of people seemed to indicate the 6.1s were a bit more musical AND their footprint had the WAF. The 6.2s were vetoed on size alone.

I'm pretty sure the tweeter on the x.2 line is the same as the x.1... would it be possible to fit the molded/flowing tweeter enclosure to the x.1 for a little bit better asthetics? I love my 6.1s and 2.1s but as-is the tweeter does look a bit stuck-on, kinda like the B&W Matrix series of the mid-'90s.
