For me to keep these beautiful sounding speakers their looks will have to grow on us.... alot.
While I'm not sure that's going to happen what is happening is that these speakers, the MTS Towers, are impressing me more and more with their
neutral, open, clean, articulate, dynamic sound.
Did I leave anything out,
oh yah... their tight, deep bass response and they image like crazy!
Really an incredible sounding speaker that might get left behind as the eyes sometimes over rule the ears.

Hey dc... did you seem to find a common ground where you felt the soundstage improved for you a bit... seemed like you were having a problem with getting the sound out of the box...

I can say for sure, I have heard speakers that imaged better then these, but they were $6000 or more a pair speakers Induction Dynamics S1t's. Not very well known speakers, but if you heard them, you would know. Those speakers just disapeared....

Now I can't say that the MTS's are disappearing like that, but the sound coming from them is above average in all the speakers I have heard.

***Edit*** Now, I also have to add, that I will be adding an amp with at least 200wpc....
I am curious to find if this could open up the sound stage a little more to make them dissapear...
Lets get this straight, I am not unhappy with the speakers, they sound fantastic.

I'll be patiently waiting (not really though; more like impatiently waiting).

Where in WI are you guys from? I am just 30 miles west of Milwaukee in Mukwonago. I would be curious how you guys find the MTS's sound. I currently own the ascend sierras.

Take care,

Hey brandon... Im just north of milw. in Grafton, 25 miles..?

It would be great to add the Sierra's to the mix, I haven't heard them. They would be great to put up against the MBS's and the Dana's.
This is nice... a small shootout would be cool.

I don't have any level matching equipment, we would just have to wing it with the equipment I have...

Following a few threads it seems we have a Mukwonago, Brookfield, Grafton and Mequon AVS contingent. Could be others in shouting distance too? Sadly my 6 year old Def Tech's are not up to the standards of others but I would love to be part of a listening / shoot out among other things it would give me an opportunity to hear some of the speakers on my short list.

They are definately NOT hard to drive. A decent receiver should be able to drive these guys with little effort.
I've tried a few different combinations with my MTS-01 towers, Denon 5805MKII, Onkyo 905 and a Citation 7.1 in bridged mode 400watts per channel.
While the Citation allows for plenty of headroom I never felt the need for more power when driving them with the two receivers.

I wouldn't mind a small shootout with some local WI folks

So its naunce, warp, maggie, and etc who all live nearby? What speakers does everyone
have that we can compare?

Later,

Brandon

That date sounds like it may work for me, if its Ok with you of course. I can definately bring the sierras. I will be curious to see how they compare with the MTS SVS's. I am an SVS sub fan myself, I have the 12" ultra upstairs and a PB-NSD10 in my theater room.

Let me know more of the details as the planning progresses.

Take care,

I have the Klipsch reference series from a few years back, the 35's (thought the center channel is the 25 series since it wouldn't fit in my tv stand that I had at the time) So yeah, I have 2 RF-35's for the fronts, the RC-25 for center, and 3 RS-35's for the 2 rears and rear center.

movies 2090, I am in Brookfield and could assist in carting gear, seeing as my older def tech pro cinima's are at best good to see how far speaker technology has improved. I am somewhat amazed at the the # of AVS'rs that have surfaced in the Milwaukee area. My wife is starting to think I hooked up to a chat room you wouldn't let your teenager on!

PS - this questions is not about sound. It is about components and $.

One of the points of this speaker line is way better components for not alot of money. example $200 tweater.

Can anyone provide tangible examples of other speakers that cost more but use lower quality parts.

ie vendor x product y uses this woofer and cross over which are X$ this much less costly but this speaker costs vs MTS (tower, center, small).

anyway, doesn't have to be in that format, just trying to give an example.

interested in what people know

Basically for performance reasons...
Here is a thread over at Sound and Vision, where TomV - V of SV Sound chimes in a bit on some of the design...

Hey Warpdrv, how are the new speakers now that you have had some time? I have some on order, but haven't read to many reviews other than your first one. Thanks for that by the way.

I guessed it was for performance, but TomV was tight-lipped on why. He did point to other people's explanations, though. Thanks for the link!
