So I finally found a buyer for my SVA1800 pair, mint condition, wonderful sound for jazz, rock, club, dance, trance, and pretty darn good for classical, pop, and HT. I'm giving up two pristine SVA1800s; a NOS SVA Center; a spare, complete SVA1800 in good condition for parts; an extra Studio8 driver, some extra hardware: and a NOS CD horn assembly (no tweeter) for $300.

It's better than parting them out, though I could have made a lot more money that way. They'll survive intact and grace a new-to-JBL music lover who never had it so good. They're still better than 70% of what's out there today, and at $300 are a steal, but I'm glad they're going as whole units to someone who cares.

What I can afford, when I can afford it...

I think this is only the case if there was some even more generous and JBL-rich individual that sold filecat13 speakers at fire-sale prices way back in the olden times.

Trust me when I write that I paid quite a bit more just for a pair of SVA1800s, not to mention the NOS SVA Center and the extra unit. But I did get a sweet deal on some gear over the years, so it's easy to pass on. I got several years of use out of the SVA Series, so my ROI is quite high, and now they will go somewhere that puts them at the top of someone's list list.

That is a good deal. I paid $700.00 for the SVA1800's little brothers, the HT4V.

never did get to listen to them, but at 1700/pr in 1997, someone is certainly getting a deal for 300

Does anyone know if the new JBL Studio 500 series (Studio 590,580,570,etc..) is as good or better than the LS series ( JBL LS 80,60,40 ) ?

Quick question JBL ES25CBK, JBL Studio 120C, JBL EC35 or JBL S-Center Studio Series Speaker? Which one has the most clarity and best of the bunch? Thanks. I will use it with my JBL E30's.

The S-Center is a true 3-way design and will have a fuller sound, the same is true of the EC35. I suspect that with it's MDF cabinet, the EC35 might be a better choice. Any of the above might be a reasonable voice match for the E30.

rdgrimes thanks. I may get a good deal for JBL EC35 or JBL S-Center. JBL EC35 and JBL S-Center are basically the same, right?

Same design and similar drivers. The S-Center has a molded plastic cabinet which I feel has a less "full" sound. The EC35 has a MDF cabinet which should have a better sound. And, being square, the EC35 offers more placement options.

The only meaningful difference is copper colored cones on the S-Center and grey on the S-CenterII.

I like my S-CenterII but the LC1 has held a 32" LCD TV on top of it for ~ 4yrs. Those small LED HDTVs weigh almost nothing. The S-CenterII sat on top of an old 34" CRT, haha. The S-Center and S-CenterII are curved on top so no flat surface to place anything.

I came out of an SII and into an EC35. Big difference to my ears. Not the same sound at all. the EC35 is much bigger, deeper, just fuller sound. Much happier with the EC35. My mains are L-100's so I don't know about timbre match. I'm not giving up my Centurys.

Thanks for the replies guys, so the S-center does not go deep at all? My beef is mostly not getting a crisp sound with my Infinity C-25, but I changed my speakers to JBL E20's and E30's and am more than satisfied with them.

One thing wrong with the C25 is its MTM design, having the tweeter on the woofer centerline. All better centers are either WTMW that has the T/M vertically stacked or MTM with the tweeter raised above the M/M centerline.

Yeah it really does make a difference. I mean it not bad, but it should be clearer. C35's are hard to get so Im going for the C-Center(Is $90 used a good deal?) I'm sure it will be better than the C25. Thanks all for chiming in.

A single S412 335663-001 tweeter sold for $56.00 plus $6.00 for shipping on ebay. That makes me feel good about paying $100.00 for a pair of S26's with the same tweeters.

I've still got a pair of S26's collecting dust, just because of those tweeters.

I would have to by a gym to house those! Must have been a big studio!

Wishing I could post in the Ultra Hi-End HT Gear ($20,000+)

Pretty sure that system came out of a theater, there are 8 surrounds included. Looks like he's selling the 2 sub cabs separately. The seller is a well-known flipper in the bay area.

There's at least one dedicated thread around here for people using JBL Pro gear in HT settings, and this system is in there. People report that it takes surprisingly little power to drive the pro setups in a HT room.

Ahhh, there's always a system to aspire to, eh?

Sooo, errr, what's the best footwear to keep one from losing traction on that slippery slope?

My suggestion would to chain one of these to each ankle to help maintain footing:

If anyone is looking for JBL in-wall speakers, I just saw the ones I would get. I think it is the first time I've ever seen the P941 on ebay.
