Well, the brackets are not available via JBL. I'm still not clear, though. Can the LC2 be mounted without the brackets or not?

There are 4 threaded t-nuts in the back of the LC2. I shouldn't take much creativity to hang one on the wall. It's probably better to have it more securely bracketed to the wall for audio reasons, but its no more difficult to hang on the wall than a picture frame. Even with the OE brackets its still just hanging on 2 screws in the wall.

Saw it when I first got to work today...not sure how I feel about it. I tend to cringe at these really big mergers. Plus, I want JBL to maintain some kind of character.

In most large conglomerates the top brass and decision makers aren't focused on products, they're focused on profit. The further leadership (I use the word advisedly) gets from product the more likely it is to lose focus on quality, heritage, and brand character. Samsung's recent gaffes (burning/exploding phones and self-destructing, projectile-launching washing machines) hopefully will teach it a lesson about focusing on product to get it right before selling it.

However, Samsung's history of corruption, bribery, illegal and unethical business practices, and political scandal make it hard to believe that the character of JBL products will be maintained. Oh well, Pollywog, already sucked most of the air out of the JBL room anyway, and he'll get a big, fat payout for his "leadership."

What I can afford, when I can afford it...

I don't know how to feel about it, as there are too many unknowns. Samsung claims the plan is to let Harmon function independently with the present management. But, they always say that before the acquisition is final. At least Samsung is a company that strives for quality. I have had very good luck with the several Samsung products I own.

My SCS8'S came in today,I mounted them in the Back Surround position where the HT5'S were. Wow! Details I never heard before! I only bought one pair because I wanted to check if I like them. I have another pair of HT5'S in the front Heights position, but unfortunately I don't have the room for a pair of SCS8'S in that position. I might order another pair to replace the 8340a's I use for surrounds, they sound very good but these SCS8'S definitely let more of the details come through. I guess I should get them before the prices go up for the Pre-Samsung JBL's.

They sound Great,I didn't know the details and sound I was missing. The Clarity is definitely way above what they replaced.

I have the 8340a's in side surround position and I would have to say yes,JBL does make a 8340 but I've never heard them.

UGH.

Forgot how to and if it matters, but when Bi-AMPING my main front towers (L880's) does it matter which binding posts the wires from the assignable amp on the receiver go to?
In other words--should the main front speaker channel wires go to the bottom posts, and the assignables go to the top posts? Help please.

1) You're wasting time and energy bi-amping the L880, just feed them more power.
2) Which wires go where is something to ask your AVR about. The bottom posts are the woofer connect.

Are you going to run four L820 surrounds? I just ordered a pair of recertified L820s from the Harmon store last week, had no idea they were below $650 on Amazon as they were the last time I looked. And $299 is excellent for the LC2.

I replaced my 8340A's with four of the SCS8's and it was a worthwhile upgrade for me. Very happy with the performance of these over the 8340A's.

I have heard the 8340's before and they are a different beast. Better built and have the ability to turn off the X-Curve, which was why I didn't like the 8340a's as much.

Heck yes! 4 L820's for surround, LC2 center and eventually L890's for mains, when I can find them. I also have 4 JBL studio in ceiling speakers (model number is escaping me). I'm accumulating parts and once I get everything I will pick up a atmos receiver and do the switch.

Currently my basement setup is all Athena Audition series, except the Studio S120pii subwoofers.

Wow, that's an incredible deal. I see the seller isn't Amazon but a 3rd party seller that claims to be an authorized dealer.
As always, buyer beware, but if legit I would advise anyone to jump on them if considering it.
They probably won't last long at that price.

I just thought I would post this here for anyone interested, There are still a few left on Amazon.

I just received a set of JBL LS speakers last week and after listening for a few days with both music and movies I am very happy with them. I ordered a center and four LS60's. I can say from experience they are much better than the Studio L's. I don't have any personal experience with the Studio 5's so I can't comment on that. For the current prices they are defiantly worth considering.

Argh, I so want to pick up 2 pairs of those L820s and a LC2.

How much of a sound degradation if not mounted on a wall?

That would make a fine rig.

I have an LC2 (as well as sealed P520WS surrounds) and love the sound. They have always been stand mounted in my setup and I would say there is no degradation. You might have a bit less bass response without the boundary effect of wall mounting, but that's it.

Sooo.....I ordered an LS Center. This forum is bad peer pressure. Can't help but wonder if it'll surpass my LC2 and give me a better match to my 590s.

I am very interested in hearing your impressions when you get a chance to listen to it. I am extremely happy with my LS set up. Especially when the cost is taken into consideration. Are they as good as the Revel Perfroma3's that I had been looking at? No. But we are talking a $1500 investment vs $6000. I can live with it.

I like your price to performance meaurement there; I'm measuring my success the same way. I should have it Saturday, but I just noticed it's coming USPS. Hope it survives the short trip. But assuming it does, I'm anxious enough to get it going that day and seeing (hearing) what's what.

They should came on a delivery truck separate from the regular mail. A smaller version of a UPS/FedEx truck. My speakers actually delivered on Sun. I was surprised when the truck pulled up. Yeah, I wasn't so excited when I saw they were shipping USPS either.
