C607, 89db sensitivity. Your 2801 should be able handle that! If not, you can always add an external amp!

So I guess you ordered the C60 center too?

For now I placed the order for the back-ordered C80. We'll see if it eventually comes in. I won't need that center speaker for at least 6 months anyway.

They will never come into stock. There are no more C80 Center Channels in stock, at Jamo and at their distributors. Zilch. Nada. None.

I know, I tried hunting one down.....many months ago

You may get lucky and find a dealer or distribution warehouse, some where in America; who has one lying around in stock or as a demo unit. But that's highly doubtful. I tried that route, too.

But good luck to you. Check amazon's used vendors.

Well, that sucks. What do you use for a center channel?

PM me and we can work out the details.

Hi, do you still have the Jamo e680's for sale? Not sure what "PM" means, so hope this reply works...

I finaly got mine today, wow i like em. They fill the gap nice with the bass between the 12 subs wich i have tuned really low. The S60 seems really small but it actualy sounds pretty good i like it.

Now i wish i had ordered the E660 for my rears also.

Anybody have experience of Jamo E660 ($140/pr) versus Polk Monitor 50 ($170/pr) for use as fronts in a 5.1 system (driven by Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver)?

Most references in this forum list the E660's as rear/surround - can they perform as fronts?

Mostly HT use, some music.

Thanks!

What made me question this is that according to paper specs, all the C60-series speakers are rated up to 20kHz while all the C80-series speakers are rated up to 24kHz. Makes one wonder whether this is due to the use of a different tweeter, even if they're both 25mm DTTs.

20khz or 24khz, unless you've got perfect hearing you'll never hear those frequencies. You won't be able to hear 24khz for sure.

The E660s are fine as fronts. I had them in a 2 speaker stereo setup for a while. The E680s are better though due to the dual 8 inch woofers.

And if you've got them in a 5.1 system that means you're using a sub. So they'd definitely be good as fronts! I'm guessing you'd get the 4 tower package from wwstereo.com?

$170/pr is really cheap for the Monitor 50's. But I've never had them in my home so I have no clue how'd they compare to the Jamo E660.

I know, but that's not what I meant. If the frequency response is different, chances are the whole tweeter is different, sounding different not just at 20kHz but also below that all the way down to the crossover point which is probably around 3-4kHz.

I use one Jamo C803 bookshelf speaker as the center channel, with my C809.

To tell you the truth, I think it sounds much better than just about any other center channel I have heard.

It's a perfect match to the drivers in the C809.

I have the C60 Center channel for use with my Jamo C607 (seperate system in the house). And that's a nice center channel. But I experimented with onre of my Jamo C603 bookshelf speakers in that system. And I liked that better, too.

I don't know, must be me. But I think the bookshelf versions of these Jamo floorstanders (with the same size drivers), sound better to my ears than the actual horizontal designed center channels. It sounds like a much more smooth integration...much more seemless.

That's not just your Jamo theory. That's a long debated discussion that horizontal center channels were made for asthetic reasons more than anything. Just didn't look proper to have an upright speaker on top of a television.

Many people think an upright bookshelf would serve as a better center than a standard horizontal center speaker.

How do you have the C603 placed? Upright, I'm guessing?

I had the C809's and the c80 center in my theater for about a year and really liked them. I changed to Paradigm in May, and held on to the Jamo's, just in case I wasn't happy with the Paradigms. I like the Paradigms better for movies, just my preference. The Jamos have not been used since May, and I think it is time to let them go. PM me if anyone is interested.

Absolutely. Upright.

I think it sounds better that way. I wouldn't lay a bookshelf down on it's side, anyway.

Thanks. Well, a pair of C603 bookshelves is cheaper than a C80 center, which can't be found new anyway. If the C603 is a better match, then I might just swing for it.

A little OT question about powering the C607s. If one was on a pretty tight budget, would Emotiva UPA-2 be a fairly decent amp? I also looked at Onkyo M-282, but some of the reviews are mixed. Looking to improve upon the Denon AVR-2801.

Yeah, I currently have to crank that Denon way up to get some sound flowing in this big basement. Right now I'm just using two bookshelf speakers (Monitor Audio B2), but they're rated at 90 dB, 6 Ohm.

The drivers in the C607 are the same as the C603.

Yeah, as long as placement/space is not an issue, the C603 as a center channel is the way to go.

FYI, I got info from one of the Jamo dealers that the C80 center will be available again in November, for those that are interested.

What other dark apple center channel speakers does jamo have out? where else can i get jamo speakers? im not sure yet if i like this S60. It sounds a little thin but im gona try a few other things.

The C80 looks like the shape of the E680s that curved back but how large are the drivers? Im not looking for somthing little to fit in a tight space i want somthing that will sound nice fat a full.

The only Jamo's I see with drivers larger than 4" are the D 8CEN and the C80 CEN but good luck finding them. They have 6" or 6.5" drivers. Every other Jamo center has small 4" drivers.

Jamo discontinued products

This is the one that should match th eE680 but its still has a 4" driver. One sold on ebay a few weeks ago.

Yeah i seen that one on e-bay and i thought about bidding on it till i looked at the specs and read how under powered it is then i held off. I think it was somthing like 70watts max or somthing.

So you guys dont know any other place that sells jamo speakers other then worldwide?

Nope, they dont have a huge presence in the US, its mostly outside of North America.

But I'd check with the poster in #563 to find out who will be selling the C80 in November.

Also check here if you haven't done so already. Put in your zip code.

Bower, call Jamo at 1-877-456-JAMO and dial "0" when the automated prompt starts. Then ask to speak to someone who can direct you to your local Jamo dealers/distributors. They'll be able to connect you with someone in your area (if there is someone in your area).

I spoke to my local Jamo Rep, today. And he confirmed that there are plans in the works to bring back the Jamo C80 Series!!!! Great news!!

ok i figured it out, it took me a few days of thought then i remembered. My receiver H/K AVR500 has a setting on it for "small" or "Large" speakers. WHen its in the small it holds back alot of the low end and sends that to the sub output so that it doesnt blow cube type speakers. Once i put the center on "Large" speaker type it really thickened up the sound alot. I didnt think those little 4" could sound that big but i think ill give it a little more time.

The C80 sounds interesting because of the 6ohms, it might boost my cente ra little and give it a little more volume wich i think it needs.

I just wanted you guys to know, I'm thinking of selling my Jamo C807 in the Dark Apple finish. So that I can replace them with another pair of C807, but in the Black finish.

The Dark Apple finish is not going to match with our new decor. So, the Black finish will blend in much better.

PM me if you're interested.
