I own a few pairs of Jamo CS5 (active speakers, as best I can tell, based on the Model 28, just with built-in power amplifiers). Seeing as how they're going on 20 years old, the volume potentiometers are getting scratchy, and so could use a good cleaning with contact spray. But I am unsure how to get them open without damage -- there are a few screws on the front, as well as on the back, but after removing them, nothing seems willing to come off. I thought I'd ask here if anyone has any tips, before I go breaking something. Thanks!!!

I found a pair of Jamo Surround 200 that were about to be thrown away. They are in a pretty good condition and I already replaced my Z-2300 speakers with the Jamo and the sound is already a lot better.

One question though, They say they are 8Ω. The tweeter 2Ω, the paper speaker (the one that is alone 2Ω) and the speaker below the the tweeter 4Ω. Is that correct or?? I was thinking about replacing the paper speakers.

Also, what is each speaker for? I know the tweeter is the tweeter :P The speaker below the tweeter and the other that is on the other side what are they for? Lows? Mids?

Thanks!

Question Need help

Hi, this is my first post here on avsforum.com and i am looking for some help about my speakers. Its about specifications of my Jamo laser 3000p that i cant find anywhere on web. On the back side of speaker box is only frequency range and power. Can anybody help me to find any informations about them such as e.g. user manual or the year of production or effectiveness(dB) ? I contacted Jamo (Klipsch - they bought them), but they cant give me any informations about them. There are also photos of speakers.

It doesnt seem like there's much on the web about them. Apparently they have 12" woofers. What other specs or information are you looking for?

There is nothing about them I am looking for e.g year of production or effectiveness or something like that. I cant sit quietly at home and watch them every day without knowing anything about them for about 15 years.

Ha....understood. But speakers are meant to be heard, not watched.

A lot of people spend too much time worrying about specs and bling bling of speakers. If you sound good to you, keep them and enjoy them!

ps - what is "effectiveness" of a speaker?
