Hello,

I would be looking for a deal on the Stage in dark cherry. The dealer I spoke with was looking for MSRP. I managed to get a deal on my cinema from a dealer that has moved and I can't find any more. I'd love to get a new Stage but only if I can find a deal from an authorized dealer. I'm in Southern California. I'm not sure if there are any on line dealers.

Any suggestions- feel free to PM me if you know of a deal or good price.

Thanks

That would be a bad choice for a center speaker, with no vertical dispersion you will have a very very narrow listening spot for the ESL section and will often miss most of that information.

OK - I don't seem to notice that but it might not be the best. I've found it for about 30% less than list but if you know of a better center for about $2K I'm open to suggestions since I haven't bought it yet.

What are you matching it to?

Seeking a speaker recomendation? Compare for yourself or be swayed by others who hear differantly, or by marketing, or just save time and get the cheapest , nicest looking, or smallest.

Anyone recommend a better fit besides the $3500 VR Visiun?

You definitely don't want to go mixing different brands of center speakers with your mains, or even different model centers made by the same company if you want to come close to anything resembling a coherent front soundstage. A good deal on the wrong speaker is a bad deal. If you are serious about good sound, by the center that was made to match your VR4's.

Thanks - unfortunately due to the design of the Visiun - it will really only work for people with flat panel displays. I do not have one and probably won't for another 2 years as my Mitsubishi 65" RPTV still looks about as good as any TV out there. Or I'd have to have a siginificantly larger living room as it really only works on a stand in front of the TV. My current ML sits on top of my TV (ok a shelf resting on the sides of my TV to prevent any bowing from the speaker) and aims correctly at the viewers. I could potentially have a sloped wedge created to down aim the Visiun but I'd be paying $1800 more for a speaker no dealer has for me to listen to. Furthermore if I ever do get a bottom cabinet, the Visiun could never fit in it so I'd still have put it in front of the cabinet or build a shelf over the next TV I buy. My next TV will probably be a 80" so I couldn't put the speaker on top of the cabinet as it would block the view of the TV.

Boe - I know just what you are going through. When I had a RPTV I had to make the same considerations when trying to find the right center. I have a 58" plasma now with a cabinet below it that was custom made to fit my center. This hobby aint cheap that's for sure. Hope you figure something out. Good luck.

Thanks hifisponge. I'll have to go with the stage for size sake. I had a great deal lined up but I took so long making a decision the dealer sold the one I planned on buying and he won't order me one at the discount we had negotiated since he was just clearing stock.

I've auditioned it twice and don't identify with your issue. I walked about the room and it doesn't seem terribly limited. I have ML cinema now and it sounds fine from numerous seating positions - have you actually listened to it yourself or are you repeating what someone else said?

But it has no vertical dispersion! So obviously you do not miss/notice the missing information that the ESL Pannel produces?

So the frequencies between 450 Hz and 2700 Hz were not noticed?

Bluray is a ML hater he will tell you not to get them unless you are the only one listening. If you already know that you can live with ML's centers then who cares what Bluray says.

Sure, you're not a hater........if you were not a hater regardless of what you thought of the speaker or its specs you would have told him to go and listen to it so that he could hear for himself the lack of vertical dispersion.

One of my uncles has the ML Stage.

Never heard any dispersion problems.

I think the Stage sounds great...

ML speakers are not suted for HT despite what you think.

Sure, this just proves that you can not hear properly or did not even notice the missing information between 450, 2700 Hz. The stage has no vertical dispersion, that is fact so if your ears are not withing the 9.3 inches of the ESL pannel you will have a huge drop out.

I didn't tell him what I thought about them, you did and you sound like a hater. BTW I agree that ML are not well suited for HT however if someone loves Logans and can't have more than one set of speakers they will do for HT despite what you think.

I would always double check on an authorized dealer that is giving a deal on logans...they can be fairly tight on any kind of warrenty service (if you need it) if not purchased from a legit source.

Logan will only allow a max 5% discount on all new in box items. (dealer showed me the sheet) if your dealer is going beyond this I would ask some questions about the dealer.

I happen to like the logans A LOT! however I have found that some people just don't like the sound. With any esl people ether love them or don't. Blu-Ray may just not have an ear for them. Some people realy like licorice some don't.

Picture without sound is surveillance.

Why spend that much money for something that will more or less jimmy rig your HT setup?

Ears have nothing to do with it since they have such a low dispersion and no vertical dispersion on the center for the ESL section it makes for a very poor experience.

How does that help the stage center that has no vertical dispersion? If you are one person then the center will work but you can not move your head around while listening to any matterial.

I'm beginning to think you argue just for the sake of argument. Why is it such a big deal to you that someone other than you is not getting the full experience out of their equipment.

No, you can't move your head up and down. Horizontal dispersion is fine. I typically don't stand up during HT, do you?
