Sigh - I am work... I miss them so much!

Well I have only had 8 hours on them and 2 of which were watching The Wire, season 4. I am planning on doing a complete review but I can already tell I have something very special. The micro-details and highs tickle my spine - I had a couple wonderful hair-raising experiences on some of my favorite tracks. Delightful chills and an awakening to fine details I have never heard before. What I thought were complex passages turned almost dry and less dramatic on the HT2's - everything is just so clean and in its place. I am finding the source and production quality is beginning to shine through on great recordings and others are less engaging.

So far I have zero toe-in and in a near-field listening position. Will play with toe-in but already damn impressed.

Another favorite part to mention, they really do disappear into the room. I look at them often and they never seem like they are, "ON". So still and calm yet this giant sound - spooky really.

Just a couple more hours till lunch at home!

^ Truly awesome! That's exactly what I want my speakers to do. Jim Salk and his team sure know how to engineer speakers.

We had rosewood to begin with but he then recommended the lacewood to better match the copper caps. I could not agree more - he nailed it.

I will take pics when the light is better. But here are two more with flash - washing out the fine lacewood detail.

I am thinking of ordering wallet sized photos to have with me at all times - will that help with separation anxiety?

Whatcha think of the idea of matching copper spikes?!

Hey Mudslide - I thought about that a bit too (copper spikes). But given what was readily available I guess it is more 3-tone. The Salk name plate and hardware on the back are also silver, so it works in combination with the spikes. I spent my lunch hour at home and enjoyed the view and music.

And thank you to everyone else's kind comments and praise. The Salk Forum family was essential in my decision making process - you guys are great.

Can't wait to see more photos up from you guys soon!

My speakers ship this weekend! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! The wait is over folks and I should receive them early next week. Woohoo!!!

After I put a good deal of time and effort into setup, calibration and put in some listening time, I'll write an extensive review. This weekend will consist of a roadtrip to visit my in-laws and then a Sunday afternoon of rearranging and configuring my room for optimal 2-channel performance (as good as I can get it anyway). I hope my wife doesn't shoot me before the speakers arrive.

Pics will be up as soon as they are available.

P.S. I just wanted to say thanks to Jim, Dennis, the rest of the Salk Sound team and everyone involved in this fully custom SongTower. There was definitely a lot of extra work that went into this, and I am eternal grateful to you all for what you did for me. I will never forget this!

Yes Jim shipped them out on the 20th. There are 2 packages totalling 199.6 lbs Good speakers are always heavy. The bad news is that it appears one of the packages is behind the other. Not sure why, but that's what FedEx tracking says. So one of my packages of speakers is going to get here on Monday, and the other on Tuesday. If that's really true then they're teasing me

That's is great news. We won't be satisfied with mere photos, we want X-rays of the shipping boxes with the speakers inside .

Try to avoid looking at that FedEx tracking web site - for at least a few minutes .

Nuance & Thirdeye11

All this eager waiting for your speakers made me look up some old records from when I got my SongTowers almost exactly a year ago.

Monday 8/13/07 - ordered SongTowers
Wednesday 8/29/07 - Jim's email says the last clear coat is being sprayed on
Wednesday 9/05/07 - SongTowers shipped
Friday 9/07/07 - Received ONE speaker and both bases
Tuesday 9/11/07 - Received other speaker after LONG Labor Day weekend

I had forgotten how long that wait seemed at the time. Yours is longer, but it is still worth the wait!! Here's hoping that BOTH your speakers arrive on the same day .

Haha I actually have 5 speakers on the way I ordered 2 ST's, a SC, and 2 SS I's. Not sure what is in which package, but I hope I get all 5 on the same day as well. If nothing else I hope the 2 ST's are here on Monday

Now that's too much of a tease. Thank God they are shipping before labor day weekend.

Pics will be up as soon as Jim sends them my way. He assures me that photos just don't do them justice, something I know is true. Nonetheless, we'll get 'em up here soon (I hope).

Okay...I am off to find an "X-ray" machine so I don't leave anything or anyone overlooked.

Nuance & Thrirdeye,

I am excited for both of you guys. You can add me to the list of people anxiously awaiting your pictures, and impressions. I am especially interested in what Nuance has to say about his RT/ST-QWT's.

Cheers guys, I hope FedEx gets 'em there all at the same time, and undamaged.

Just placed an order for the STs and now it's my turn to wait.

The excellent reviews in this thread were what prompted me to order the speakers despite not having had the opportunity to screen them. Can't wait to hear them out.

Well for some odd reason FedEx was right. I believe Jim shipped all 5 speakers at the same time, but only one of the 2 boxes arrived today. It appears to be the 2 SongTowers though so the most important pieces are here

The box is pretty badly beaten up. Lots of chunks out of the sides, although every place where a chunk is missing there is styrofoam beneath so I THINK everyhing is ok. I received these at my office, so I don't plan to unpack them until I get home.

Once I get home though I will be unpackaging and hoping for the best in terms of damage. I don't think there is any, but I am too nervous to open them here

Was watching The Two Towers last night on TNTHD wishing that I had my SongTowers because I dialed in my subwoofer last night as well as my mains (level matching) and everything sounded GREAT. Can't wait to hook them up tonight and get some listening time in. My wife is out of town Thursday - Sunday so I will have plenty of time to do so.

I also own a nice DSLR camera to take some pictures with. Once I get them taken I will upload them and hopefully have some different angles you don't usually see on these guys!

The other 3 speakers (SongCenter and 2 SongSurround I's) will be here tomorrow and then I'll really be excited. I will update the thread throughout the remainder of the week and hopefully have a full review up soon.

-Chad
