Im now on the same boat as many, have a $3000 budget for 2 tower speakers and were considering the paradigms studio 100s v4 since i hear they are the best bang for your buck. However im not to sure what they go for now a days in vancouver canada, also should i wait for the v5s to come out and lastly i have a denon 988 would that be enough power for these, Im upgrading from klipsch rf 82s. Im very new to hometheater audio so i would really appriciate some feedback from you guys who are very knowledgeable.

Hey Hugo,

I'm also in market for a pair of Studio 100s. The MSRP is ~$2800 CAD I believe. So I'd say that you can get them for $2500-$2600 easily. I'm heading to Montreal this weekend and I'm going to try to audition them.

Since I probably won't buy them until next year or so, I'm probably going to wait for version 5. But let us know how your speaker hunt goes, and I'll do the same.

Just a heads up to people looking for the studio 100's. Since the V5's are coming out, most dealers are giving very good deals on the V4's. My dealer had the Paradigm 100 V4's for $2100 canadian. They are usually around $2900 here. So you guy's better push for great deals.

Also to the OP. Enjoy the speakers, they are great. If you can get a separate amp in the future to run the 100's do so. With a good amp these speakers will sing.

cheers,

As an owner of 100's the v3's I will state they do sound great but they like power so
when matching them to a rec/amp make sure that the said piece will produce at least
125w a ch and that it is more than comfortable at 4ohm loads since they dip to a tad
lower than 3ohm around 100hz give or take 50hz. Almost any of the current crop of
flagships will drive them anything lower an addition of an external amp is highly
recommended if your going to crank them.

Guys i truly appriciate the responces, i decided to wait till january since ill be going to mexico in 2 weeks and will be there for a month, also getting hardwood floors installed while im gone so i might as well wait till jan and check out the new paradigms studio 100 v5. Hopefully they do come out in jan because i cant wait any longer. If i get a deal on the v4s i cant refuse or if i notice no major difference in sound quality between the 4s and 5s then the 4s it is. Man i just cant get the paradigms out of my head i really want them, i remember about 2 years back when i wasnt into sound too much i heard the studio 100s v4 at AUV unlimited and they just sounded amazing even when been powered by a low end receiver, i could remember asking the sales man what kind of sub was playing behind the couch behind me, and when he told me that there was no sub, it was just the two tower speakers, i was shocked and very impressed. I will definately let you guys now which ones i bought and i cant tell you just how anxious i am to finally hear what good speakers really sound like not the stuff you hear at best buy or big retailers like that . I do have one more question, i recently bought klispch reference series 5.1 speaker system they are good speakers but off course im sure no were near high end sound anyways like i mentioned early im no expert at hometheater audio, some may laugh at this question but whats the best way to break in speakers? Once again thank you all

I'm no expert either, but I'd say let them play all day long at a volume that you would enjoy listening normally. Most manufacturers specify the break-in period of their speakers, so look into your Owner's manual.

guys i went to audio and video unlimited in surrey B.C. and the sales man Rick Singh gave me excellent customer service and a good deal on a pair of stuio 100 v4 and a paradigm centre cc590 i highly recomed him, never rushed me or pressured me and didnt hesitate in helping my budget, before that i went to futureshop for something else and i felt scared walking in there . I got there 30 mins before they close the store and was there for about an hour closing the deal. I am going back on monday because i actually wanted the cc690 centre channel. Unfortunately i wont be able to test them out yet since they had 0 in stock and had to order them in. I was shocked when i saw the cetre channel cc590 it was HUGE, it almost looked like a studio 100 laying on its side, the cc690 must be even bigger. Anyways once the speakers arrive and i hook them up i will tell you my thoughts.

Ok so $3640.00 after the cc690, pair of studio 100s v4 are paid for and on order. I order the black ones but now im thinking i should have gone with the rosenut. What do you guys think which ones would have been better? Also if i bi wire the speakers to my denon 988 will it be enough power for them, or will i demage the tweeters because they are been under powered? Im only going to run these three speakers until i can afford the surrounds.

It's not a bad deal but not a great deal also. My dealer here in calgary had the studio 100 V4's for $2200 and the CC690 for $1000. They are clearing them out for the new V5's in january.

Still, you got great speakers, give them some time to brake-in before you cranck it up. Enjoy...

Also i like the Black ash on them. Keep it...

Cheers,

I had to get Revel f32's (MSRP $4000) to get something head and shoulders better than my Infinity Primus 360's (MSRP 600)

Very true, particularly in the amplification side.

I never realized that the 360's were so terrible that the Revel could sound better.

just got back from mexico and hooked up my paradign setup right away all i can say is wow. Ive heards some songs millions of times and after listening to them through the paradigms it seemed like i heard them for the very first time. Sounds that other speakers just couldnt produce the paradigms did. I am more than happy with my purchase and will now start saving for the signature siries. I couldnt wait for the new studios v5 but im more than happy with the v4s. I had my doubts on going with black ash but man these speakers are beautiful looking they match all my furniture. I cant wait till they are fully broken in , i can only imagine the sound, if im extremely statisfied with them right out of the box, fully broken will blow my mind. cheers
