I just installed the 4881 center and 2 6816's for the L/R and I am extremely happy with them. I have a smaller living room (14x16) with an 8 person sectional sofa, so I wanted to open up some space by getting rid of the floor speakers and 8 yr old DLP on a stand. Being a single dad, I had a very small budget of $1000 to get the TV and speakers, so these were perfect.
Here is a pic. I had limited options, so this arrangement was all I could do. There is a 2x12 that runs up at an angle for the stairs, so that would interfere with the left speaker if I tried to mount them next to the tv. I will be adding the rears soon, but for now I am using some old surrounds on stands.
All of the equipment is in the closet behind the Tv.

Where have you put the ceiling speakers? Directly over the MLP aligned with your front left and right speakers?
Unfortunately, they are about 5 feet in front of my couch, due to a ceiling heating duct, I couldn't put them right overhead. Playing the transformers Blu-ray it does definitely sound a lot fuller than a 5.1 setup.

I am wondering how you guys are running the wires for all the speakers. Are you running them up then back down to one central location? Running them down then connecting them throughout the the room?

Im really thinking about a 7604-5 and 4619-2 ceiling setup.

P.S.-Would an SVS SB 1000 be overkill? Is there such a thing
Would be specific to how your room is setup. For me my bonus room is upstairs and I have attic access above so all of my wires run up to the attic and then over to a central location in the corner of the room.

Looking at purchasing the 10761 Multi-Zone Audio Controller to add music listening throughout my house. Looking for recommendations on the best IN-WALL and IN-CEILING monoprice speakers for music listening. Considering the 6816's and the 4929's at the moment.

Also, what would be the ideal IN-CEILING monoprice speaker for surrounds in a 7.1 home theater system? Thanks!

7607 vs 7604

Everyone seems to rave about the 7604 (dual woofer, micro flange) speaker and little love seems to be given to the 7607 (3 way, kevlar)

what the reason?

I am tempted to pick up 4 - 7607 speakers for front left and right heights (using the 8 inch 3 ways for regular left and rights) and surrounds, but everyone keeps talking about the 7604's

what gives?

I'd also like to know this. And how they compare to the 6816 as well.

im trying to decide on some rear surrounds.
im looking at the 7605, 4929, or the 4104

they are going to be run from a Pioneer SC-63.
my fronts are NHT VT-2's that are biamped.
the center is a NHT VS-2.

i have 2 more VS-2's that are in the closet, that im not allowed to put out.
so im trying to figure out which ones would work the best for me.

In the middle of my speaker install..I have a couple walls with no insulation, do you guys feel it is needed (better) to install some insulation below and on top of the speaker before final install? This theoretically will make 4 walls around the speaker instead of just space up and down.

Just a bump on this. Anyone have an opinion on how the 6816's compare to the 7604, the 4929 and the 4619? Thanks!

Hey Everyone.

I have been through every page and I was hoping for some help.
I was able to purchase 4 - 6816s and 2 - 7604 for fairly cheap from someone selling them.
I am currently finishing my basement and I have to run the speaker wires within the next day or so for a 5.1 setup.
Primary use will be for movies and gaming.

I know that 1 pair of the 6816s will be used as the fronts and I was planning on using another pair for the rears...

My main question is should I be running the rears in the ceiling above where the couch will be or is it better to run them in the wall behind the couch. (this question is the most important because I need to get the wires done ASAP drywaller is coming soon)

I was thinking of using one of the 7604s as a center channel. Or should I use these as the rears? and buy a seperate center channel?

Thank you for any help!

I like to have my rears on the ceiling. But that is if they are round speakers

Why not run the 6816 as l/c/r ?

I'm putting 7 x 4881s (all mounted vertically) plus 4 x 4103s in the ceiling for the Atmos room I'm building. The walls and ceiling will be covered in GOM fabric, and the screen will be AT. There'll be no speakers visible at all.

Check the Dolby page. I believe they have surrounds behind and to the sides. For me, I'm planning on having the rears in the ceiling, but they'll be ceiling speakers. I thought I read here that ceiling and in-wall were designed for their respective enclosures and not to mix, but I could be wrong.

Looks great. What are you using for the remote/IR transmitter to control the equipment in the closet?

I have had 2 of these for about 5 years now and they work flawlessly for the most part. If it does stop working properly, its usually time to replace the rechargeable battery that comes with it.

I have the 8" Rear Speakers (4929) and just got them hooked up. I noticed quite a bit of static/white noise coming from when they weren't active. I'm assuming a lot of it is setting related, I probably need to turn them down.

However, I was also looking at the setting on the speakers themselves. I'm assuming these are frequency settings.

What should those be set at? This is a long and narrow room, the portion where the speakers are is only about 10' deep.

Just ordered 4 pairs of the 8" 4104 for my whole floor audio system. Already bought the Monoprice 6-zone amplifier. There is a free shipping deal going on now. Shipping for these is like $17 a pair without the deal. Won't be able to listen to them until early March.

I've had the 7604s for a couple of years now. I think they sound great with the right source. I have a few questions, any help will be appreciated!
1. Did you leave the fabric piece in place behind the grill or remove it during installation?
2. The only problem I have with the sound is the lower frequencies, anyone else suffer around 250Hz and lower until the your sub picks up?
3. I get a lot of sound bleeding through the back wall of my speakers, anyone recommend a solution? Insulation and type?

There is a lot to like about these speakers, I want to get the most out of them, thanks again.
