Any updates on the comparison here? I am choosing between the mini and the full size. I'd prefer the mini for my rack but I want the best sound. 80% HT use

I see that Klao order the "special edition" STP. Due last month. Havnt heard anything back about it so I wonder if he has gotten it yet. If so I hope he will give his opinion.
Until then I guess we are waiting for chjo.

I would like to see some comparisons my self between the Mini MC and the Big Boys as well.

I've just introduced my new W4S STP into my office two channel system.

Previously, I was connecting my Transporter via balanced cables directly into my Channel Islands D-200 monoblock amps. I'm currently using PSB Platinum M2 speakers. I was controlling the sound volume by using the digital volume control in the Transporter. The amps are so powerful, that I was running the Transporter at a very low sound level. The balanced connectors are not infuenced by the Transporter's internal jumpers.

The STP is fully balanced and is passive - it introduces no gain whatever. I now run my Transporter at max volume and use the volume control in the STP.

I was expecting a modest improvement in my already good sound quality. I was not expecting to hear incredible detail coming out of a dead silent background.

All in all - a terrific addition to my system

I am considering the ST-500 for increased overhead. My room is fairly large when considering that it opens into other areas. I am currently running some D100's (100 Watt) from CIAudio. Has anyone made a similar move? Any impressions?

Boxerboy, I was curious as to how you like your M2's. I'm interested in some PSB Platinum T6's but the only dealer within 200 miles doesn't stock the Platinum line so I haven't been able to listen to any of them. So I'd appreciate any insight you can offer.

I don't have much time this week to post (law school exam, tax season both keeping me busy) but I did receive the unit today. I had about an hour to take a listen and to be honest the difference from my previous experiene with stereo listening was not subtle. Extremely quite background, something you don't realize you are missing until you experience it. I've been searching for electronics to do my speakers justice (Eficion F300) and after a carousel of different equipment (albeit not much experience with stereo preamps), I am very very pleased. It was one of my wow moments in audio.

I am interested in the STP too, and anxiously await comment from you lucky users who already have them. Have any of you run a good turntable/cartridge/phono pre setup through the STP yet?

chjo, Klao, Boxerboy, or any other new owner, can you post pics of the remote, the rear panel, and the front panel powered on?

Maybe I'm alone on this one but I wish people would post a lot more pictures of their equipment. I know in most cases the box is the same but I'm always interested to see these things in action and the think EJ is always interested in seeing where/how his babies have landed.

I'd be happy to start if others agree, since it's not my thread.

Hello,

Ok, here we go..

First I would like to thank EJ and Rick for the excellent service. Your babies have arrived savely and found a good home. They have the honor to drive one of the most difficult to drive speakers when it comes to amplifier needs, Apogee´s first model, the ´FullRange´.

And they do the job in an excellent manner. The pair of Krell MDA300 Monos I used before offer nothing of the authority the SX1000 create though the Krells are at least 3 times the size and consume 5 times the electricity in idle mode the W4S Amps need.....

The FullRange needs lots of current in rather low impedances to really sing but the SX1000 has no problem to provide this....
I am VERY pleased with the sonic results.

Best regards from Germany

Stefan

Stefan. Great picture. Nice to see the W4S in place. Saw your "Pre" pictures somewhere else. Very very cool. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry, I'm the one that wanted to see more Amps (and pre-amps, and anything else from W4S people have in place). Kind of like sharing pictures of your kids...

A Funny Thing happened on the way to the Audio Asylum. I posted that I had just hooked up my new SX1000's and I was accused of being tied to the company. I happen to work for an Auto Company, so I would welcome the security of being tied to any company.

Don't feel bad. I am in the commercial construction business, and we don't do government work. Times are shaky for a lot of us. Anyway, I did not mean to cutoff any amp picture posting. Its all good. POST THOSE PICS!

I emailed EJ for some additional info and he answered my questions promptly. I was interested in a set of record out jacks on an STP, and he said it would be feasable to convert one pair of RCA out jacks to fixed level for record out jacks. We did not discuss additional cost or any details. Now thats customer service the big companies can't offer.

Sorry, Sanlanman, I wish I have a turntable and vinyl records to play with. I got the STP on Thursday afternoon and had a chance to hear it a bit today in a casual, background music kind of listening. The preamp looks quite neat (mine is silver), much more handsome than I expected.

Must tell you guys that I'm putting my new system up together with almost totally new equipments, except for the old Magnepan speakers. So it would be impossible for me to single out how the STP sounds or would sound when everything has passed the break-in period. I had my SX-1000's since December and borrowed NAD C352 integrated from my sisters to run as a preamp to burn-in the monoblocks for a short while. The current/new system consists of Cambridge 840 CDP, Stereovox Colibri-XLR IC's, Harmonic Tech Pro-9 SC's, and of course the STP preamp.

First impressions: sonically very clean, tonally balanced, but detailed. Strings are sweet and smooth. No harshness from brass instruments either. I guess the gear are in controlling Maggie's ribbon tweeters very well. My previous Krell 400xi integrated projected the strings sound too forward and hard.

Give me and my system a month or so. Meanwhile, I'm sure other owners of the new STP can add more.

MC 5 500x3 and 250x2 owner. Love this amp. One of my favorite purchases. Im getting rid of my belkin pf60 and going with a better power condioner/isolator. Any recommendations that work well with the wyred4sound amps? What are you fellas using? Im leaning towards the adept responce AR6 which is more in my price range.

Any thoughts ,

Thanx Chris
