I think I'd see if I can find an Electrocompaniet

The Nemos are designed for the original Nautilus which had similar impedance response and can handle 2ohm loads.

Perhaps you could also try to find the AW400 and 250

No doubt these are a top tier choice but a bit more than i would spend for amps. I would never spend that much for amps for $15k speakers. Especially since clean watts are cheap these days. Not too big on used gear too. But If I had unlimited funds... Also, class D or a Stereo A/B would take up less space, which I dont have a lot of. Max I am really looking at is 3ishk. That could get me something with W4S with some mods.

The AW250s are cheaper. And you might want to see if there are some deals preowned.

Its looks like sound and vision measured a min impedance of 3.67 at 98Hz on the 802 Diamonds. B&W web-site quotes 3.5.

http://www.soundandvision.com/conten...-labs-measures

Im gonna try and demo the mAmps next month when the 802s are settled in and I move some old gear out.

New mAmps with WBT and Kimber upgrades and Rhodium Fuses. Not a bad way to start the weekend. Hooked them up to the 802DIIs and it has enough power to drive them to crazy levels. Now the break-in begins.

I would also like to give a kudos to W4S. My mAmps were triple boxed, yes thats right I said triple. EJ is great to deal with, I tested his patience a bit this week and he kept his cool

Update: 8/4/2014
Although the amps are pretty small they are built solid. When driven hard the chassis get a little warm but no radiating heat. This is important for me since the new cabinet I have on order will leave 1-2" of breathing room above the amp. One of my favorite things about W4S is they offer binding post, wiring, fuse, cap and other upgrades. Do they make a difference in sound, don't know and frankly don't care, I want them and they give you what you want. The WBT binding posts are beautiful and I enjoy a little audio bling. Overall, the chassis is utilitarian, but clean. Looks at home next to my DAC2. Out of the box I noticed an immediate improvement in bass over my existing 200wpc Class AB, the 8" woofers on my 802s came alive and slam hard. The mids and highs were a bit dull and unexciting but after 30 hours of break in I am hearing an improvement. I am waiting the full 200 hours for a real evaluation but I am already liking what I am hearing. I will be running them 24/7 for the next month.

I just moved and I can't fit a surround system in my apartment, so I'm selling my MMC5. It was only used to power a center and 2 rears. If anyone's interested. PM me for more info.

Put it up on Audiogon for a good price. The site is pretty active these days. I sold 3 sets of speakers within 1 day this past month.

Hi all,

I am keen to get a w4s set up but it s getting really hard to choose and decide, plus the fact that I can t really audition them is a bit tricky to choose.
I have a family room and ht room where I want a good sound system and then I have in ceiling speakers to the patio and kitchen.
I was wondering if it be a good Idea to get a 7 ch mmc to feed the front 3 of the ht room, then let the yamaha rxa2020 taking care of the surrounds, feed the other 4ch for the in ceiling speakers and get a mpre/mamp combo for my family room.
I want to be able to play the same music in both the family, patio and kitchen when needed, thus would I be able to use both the xlr and RCA out from the mpre to do so. XLR going to the mamp and RCA splitter cable to the mmc to feed patio and kitchen?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards

Hello I have to drop this newbie question:

I have Dali Ikon 8 fronts and plan to have a surround system with a Denon X5200 at it's heart but I also need an integrated amplifier for stereo so I thought about the Wyred4Sound STI-500 which should run my Ikon8s.

Any thoughts about this? I worry that the sound will be too... I don't know... Maybe high-pitched. The Dali Ikons have a tendency to do that though the Ikon 8s suffer least from this I think.

So maybe the older NAD M3 would be better? It's just that I can get the STI-500 slightly cheaper (and younger) - both of them used of course.

The STI500 will be fabulous. I use it for Stereo in conjunction with a Yamaha 3900 driving Sallk SS8 Speakers at the front & my old B&Ws at the back. The HT bypass works great as I plug The Network player (Pioneer N50) into the STI500. Haven't used the CD player that also connected for a while now as the sound is so much better out of the N50. The sound is neutral & definitely not sharp.

Thank you so much for answering me. I know that I should listen for myself but I'm still worried that I pick the wrong tracks to test it. Hopefully the neutral sound won't be sharp as well in my case because of my speakers.

The one that I will get is about 2.5 years old and I've worked it down to 7000 DKK which probably are around 1400 US dollars. I hope I'm not being robbwd here.

I just picked up a pair of the upgraded mAmps to power my PMC IB2S fronts. Wyred4Sound's sales/service was spectacular. I placed my order on Friday after 3:00pm. FedEx had already made their pickup. W4S actually drove to UPS and shipped my order that same day, and I received them the next morning (Saturday!).
