Happy with my AVP

Gents,

I follow this thread since the beginning and I am a proud owner of a AVP-A1HD with 3D upgrade and a POA. Since I have it in my rack, I don't even consider buying something else. A replacement from Denon, it can come in 3, 4 or 5 years. I think my AVP will give me still a lot during that time frame.

I am now just refining my set up. I just ordered a Lumagen 2144 and Chromapure Standard + i1Display Pro + Advanced Auto Cal. I hope to achieve a very good picture after calibration from my JVC DLA-RS6710.

I tried to order the Audyssey Pro Kit, but Audyssey never replied to my emails. So I will put that purchase for later, if ever. I tend to skip companies with bad customer support.

I have a Oppo 103D Blu Ray player which deliver a great picture, but I am considering to build a HTPC (based on XBMC, MadVR, MPC-BE and Avisynth for scripts). A guy called KAZ is doing a pack with all the settings for the best picture available depending on your configuration. Check it out. He is selling the pack for 3 Euros !!!! Nothing compare to the amount of time he spent to tune the softwares together.

http://homecinema.wix.com/html_kazco...fig-kaz-7/c42y

And I ordered as recommended, a Peerless PRG-UXA-W wall mount.

Is Christmas coming earlier this year ? hehehe

Have a good day.

Denon AVP-A1HD with 3D upgrade, Denon POA-A1HD, Klipsch THX Ultra 2 7.2 speakers, Oppo BDP-103D, Toshiba HD-A35, Oppo DV-983H, Samsung Satellite Receiver, JVC DLA-RS6710, Stewart Screen 16/9 Studiotek 130 G3 100", Mac Mini as a media center, NAS Synology DS 1812+, Drobo Pro 800 storage unit, Sony...

I see you are using the POA with Klipsch THX U2 speakers. I have the same speakers and I was wondering how they sound together with the POA. Don't they sound to bright with this amp.

I'm using the Onkyo PA-MC5500 for the moment but I would like to upgrade so the POA is on the radar.

Any advice would be welcome.

Hi Miliotov,

I enjoy the sound coming out of the Klipsch THX Ultra 2. But it all depends on the usage you have for those speakers. I am sure there are better speakers for Music (but I don't think the Klipsch were designed first as a Music speakers), but frankly for cinema it is quite amazing !! And paired with the AVP and POA, it is great. I listen to Music on them, but I am more into movies. I would love to buy B&W 801D speakers, but this is another story ....

Have a good day.

Thanks for the reply, Brutalzen.

I'm using the Klipsch 100% for movies and I love it. However I had 805di speakers and I really loved the sound coming from those speakers but that wasn't a dedicated HT room.

Now I'm wondering how my dedicated room would sound if I would replace the Klipsch with Diamond speakers all around in combination with the Denon combo.

Choices, choices, choices

Subwoofer configuration

I don't know if this has been discussed before so excuse duplication. I am considering a 2nd sub in my system. What are the issues in selecting either 2SP L/R or 2SP MIX in the AVP setup (p.28 in my manual). I assume both will work OK but what exactly is going on and is one option better than the other?

To enlarge slightly: treating the subs as a single channel (MIX) seems simplest, so why do they offer a L/R option, and how is the multichannel signal treated? My guess is FL/FR/C to one sub and FR/RR/C to the other.

Djb, 2sp L&R is more there if you believe in stereo subs, the mix option is for LFE . Ie a 2ch preference other a ht LFE one.

I suspected as much. So if one goes for MCH music and HT with a 2nd sub, the best choice is MIX. Thanks.

Finally got my baby back! Hooked it up this morning and the lyrics "you don't know what you got till it's gone" firmly apply here. Hopefully it's smooth sailing from here on in.
It doesn't say what they replaced other than "component repaired on the digital audio PCB", it cost me $300 roughly. Money well spent.

Glad to hear you have your baby Back. rnrgagne

It sounds like there was a fault that developed with the Digital Audio Board, which is the main board that seems to be linked to the many upgraded AVP 3D units.. is yours an upgraded AVP-3D by any chance?..

Cheers..

I set my AVP to 2 SP mix (running 4 subs total, co-located in pairs in Front & Back of the HT)
From memory in the THX settings if you select THX Sub & select THX when viewing movies the AVP will treat the Subs as LFE..

Cheers.

You are in Germany, right? Then here we go: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Denon-Poa-A1H...p2056016.l4276

But this one is a CineMike enhanced one and very expensive (8950 €). Not the usual used ebay item.

I can recommend Audionet power amps. Look for the Amp VII which I own and use with my AVP plus an AMP V for 9.2.

Good luck.

hello,
very kind of you, which is near me but super expensive. I paid only 3600 euros for my new POA-A1HD 2011!
Unfortunately I sold it for active Speaker, this was a big mistake. I do not think, unfortunately, it is no longer manufactured. Excuse me, my English is not good, i hope you can understand me.

Greetings

Thanks. Yes it had the 3D upgrade, although for my use I prefer to call it the XT32 upgrade.
