If I have a 50" 1080P display (TH-50PZ77u) and I plan on running all my video and audio through the receiver with HDMI (Blue RAY, XBOX360, HD dishnetwork) do I need a receiver that can upconvert to 1080P to have the best picture quality? I'm looking at the ONKYO SR705 and the SR875 and there is a big price difference between the two. I would rather get the 705 if the picture quality will be the same.

All your sources are already HD and your monitor will de-interlace for you so save your hard earned money and get the 705. There are other makes that may suffice for your needs (Marantz 7001, Denon 2808, Pioneer 92TXH, Sony DA4300ES, Yamaha 663).

Read the stickied thread on scalers in the DVD forum. The stickied AVR FAQ in this forum also addresses the subject.
