Just got the Onkyo HT-SR800 7.1..what a great package at a great price!
I hooked it up and turned on the TV, on popped CSI NY and there was a club scene with some dramatic music. Wow..the sound was crisp, sounds really popped and I could practically feel the subwoofer. I was loving it! Home theater indeed!
I then did the sound setup..with the mic..very cool process. After I played the same scene..sounded flat. Clear and vibrant but almost no lowend. And all the stuff I heard in the rear was now barely audible. After some testing with blu-ray movies I found the default settings to be dramatic movie theater vibrancy. After the Audessey calibration..its just...OK.
I just want awesome sound that pumps..as opposed to "properly adjusted".
Any opinions on this? If you have this setup..which do you like better? Does Audessey make it dramtically better for you?
Main thing I noticed after setup was hardly any subwoofer..maybe I need to setup then adjust that?
Any ideas..opinions...would be great..thanks!
