It sounds great. Right now I only have some Def Tech 800 ProMonitors and a Def Tech Supercube III. I haven't played with it much, but it does sound amazing.

I just got a whole mess of 01's, 03's, and 05's in stock at my store. Time for some fun.

The new Denon's are pretty bad ass too.

Which of those new Denon's is on the same level as the SC-05/SC-07? Id like to do some comparison.

Panasonic TH-50Pz77u
Yamaha HTR-5890
Definitive Technology 2 x 7000sc, CLR 3000, 4 x BPVx, Trinity subwoofer front, Klipsch 12 inch sub rear
PS3
Xbox 360

Could it be:

3808 -> 05
4308 -> 07
5308 -> 09

It would be really nice nice to do some comparisons. the Pios have those very tempting ICE amps.

As I understand it, Denon changes models every 2 yrs and the xx08 is still in the 1st release yr.

There are no answers, only choices.

The new Denon's beginning in 09 are already out. 1609, 1709, and 1909. The line replacing the 2308 and up wont be out for a little while longer.

There are SKU's for the 07's but they are not showing as being available till the middle of september. That could change tho as the 05 had the same ship date. If ainlawls is saying the 05's are in stock we should see the 07's soon. I am not at work to check tho but I do have the SKU's and have had them for over a month.

If anyone is interested the SKU for the sc-07 is 8881481. Don't know is this will actually help anyone other than a employee as these are not on the website yet and still do not show in the retail service system as of yet. I will check again tommorow tho.

I ORIGINALLY POSTED THIS POST IN A THREAD THAT A PIONEER EMPLOYEE CHECKED AND ANSWERED QUESTIONS, HOWEVER HE STOPPED ANSWERING QUESTIONS. IF ANY OF YOU CAN HELP, THANKS. I ASSUME THESE OPTIONS STILL EXIST IN THE NEW BATCH OF RECEIVERS.

....

I have the 2-Yr old Elite VSX-80TXV. Can anyone explain whether the Dynamic Range Control setting in the Other Setup Menu has any affect on Midnight Mode or whether those are similar but completely independent settings? If they are independent, it seems superfluous to have both of these controls. Moreover, Midnight mode (which compresses the dynamic range of all sources, I believe, or at least digital sources) is available with one button press on the remote, whereas DRC is buried in the menu.

The manual does not indicate whether these two functions are related, or whether they are completely independent. If they are independent, then it seems like you could end up compressing the range twice if you set DRC to Mid or Max, and turn on Midnight Mode. I've never adjusted the DRC setting in the Other Settings Menu, but I do use Midnight Mode quite often.

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Does the on-screen GUI overlay the television input? For example, I want to see the volume bars on the screen as I watch a movie and change the volume. With my Denon 3086, I have to switch video input to the receiver to see the volume bar, so it's useless. I believe the only time it works without switching input is if the signal is 480i. The receiver is too far away to read from its display, so that's not helpful either.

My local So-Cal dealer Yawa just got the 01 and 03 in stock. He normally offers discounts, even online, so if anyone's interested feel free to inquire at the site. Being a local I've been going to the store for years now, but I know he's been an active 'net reseller as well. The products may not be on the site yet, but feel free to send them an email!

I'm still juggling between the 01 and 03. I'm pretty sure I can't afford to go up to the ICE powered SC-05. Just trying to figure out whether the differences from the 01 to the 03 justify the price increase.

Any advice is appreciated!

I've noticed that some users are setting their front speakers to small after the speaker setup. What is the benefit for that...my VSX01 should be here Tues-Weds.
Thank you

Thank you

When the speakers are set to large, the receiver sends them lower frequencies that the subwoofer should be handling on its own, if I understand it correctly. From what I've read, a lot of these auto-setup programs seem to set most speakers to large, even though they are not capable of handling these lower frequencies. It really depends on what kind of speakers you have though, however in most cases it seems the small setting is the way to go.

I have the 1018.....is it worth bringing it back to Best Buy and trading up to the 01 while I'm still under 30 days? I really like the 1018, just not sure for an extra $175 or so if I'm missing out on anything........or maybe I should just buy some more Blu-Rays.....

I recently bought a Yamaha 3800 a week ago for a decent price and now I've found out the store I bought it from will be getting the new Pioneer Elite SC-O5 in within the first two weeks of Aug. and and I am really tempted to pay the extra cash for it however it's a tough decision for me. I paid $1200 for the Yamaha and can get the SC-05 for $1650 which I'm willing to pay the difference if its going to be that much better of a reciever. It's nice that I got a good price break on the 3800, though its nice to have the latest technology in a product as well with it being a 2nd. generation model for the new sound fields. I've even gone so far as to put 10% down on the Pioneer as well which I can always get back. This decision is really beginning to kill me, anyone have anything to say to help me make a wise decision. I'm somewhat leery about the 3800 for possibly having quite a few problems and it seems as though the Elites are well respected recievers. I would really appreciate any help anyone may have. If it helps for speakers I have Klipsch Ref. 7, RC 7 and RS 7 rears.
Thanks
