What are my choices for HDMI 1.3 receivers that do DTS-MA and Dolby-TruHD decoding, convert component video IN to HDMI out (No up-conversion of the signal needed), and have a price tag under $600?

I would also like to be able to up-convert 2.0/5.1 LPCM over HDMI to 7.1.

How do they compare as far as sound quality goes? I would like to pair this with Ascend Acoustic 340 R/C/L and the Ascend 170 bookshelf surrounds.

I know there are offerings from Onkyo, Yamaha, H/K, Sony, and maybe others, but there is no real comparison thread between the AVRs and the individual AVR threads themselves are just massive!

Thanks for the help!

You'll have to check the specs to make sure they cover exactly what you want, but here's a few good ones to look at:

Onkyo 705 (or new 706)
Denon 2308 (or new 2309)
Yamaha 863

All of these should have a street price in the neighborhood of $600.

Thanks for the tips guys, I think either the Onkyo 606, the Yamaha 663 or the Sony 920 are what I want. Are there any other receivers in this league? How does the sound quality compare between those three receivers? The feature set seems about the same but the disappointment of the Yamaha is the measly 2 HDMI inputs, but a HDMI switch is a pretty cheap purchase. I am pairing this AVR with Ascend 340's and 170's.

The Denon 988 is a $1200 receiver and you can get one for HALF. Don't miss out on that kind of a deal.

Sounds like a perfect job for the Pioneer 1018.

Wow how did I miss that?! Anyways thanks for the link, I'll take a very good look at it. This receiver looks like it does everything I want without enough HDMI inputs, but my TV has an extra 3. Thanks for the food for thought everyone.
