Alright guys, I'd like to thank you all in advance for any advice you have for my particular situation

I'm loacated in Canada and I plan on buying a reciever within the next few day, most likely from crutchfield canada or future shop...

I have the Acoustimass 10 bose speaker system and need to know what would be a good amp under $500 to pair with these speakers???

Thanks again!!

It doesn't matter - your weakest link will be .... that 4 letter word ... BOSE

Use the search function at the top of the threads to learn all the advantages of using Bose speakers.

Sell the Bose. Orb Audio is a great alternative to Bose cubes. Good budget receivers under $500 are Pioneer 1018, Yamaha 663, and Onkyo 606.

Depends on your future needs. HDMI? TrueHD/DTS MA decoding?

I see no reason to sell the Bose if you like them. Friend of mine had an accoustimass system and it sounded ok. I would guess the overall frequency response could be a bit compromised due to a potential lack of mid bass between the woofer and the small sattelites. One source claims from 200 to 280hz, but cites no testing.

Of course, Bose is close to the most hated brand on these forums, so expect few posts offering to help you with your actual question. They apparently want to spend your money for you

"But this one goes up to 11"
