I'd like to get a new BR player. Looking at the Panny 35 or55k.

I have a front projector that accepts HDMI signal.

I have separate amps

Is there a device that would allow a single HDMI input and allow a HDMI video out to my PJ, while passing through the full uncompressed HD audio from the Blu Ray?

AND have a volume control? Basically a receiver without the amplification.

Thanks for any help

where do you intend to pass the blu-ray audio to?

you still need a pre-processor or an avr with pre-outs to do the digital to analog conversion, processing and volume modulation before feeding the amplifiers.

yes, that's a splitter, and yes there's no volume control, that's because a volume control on a splitter wouldn't make any sense...

i'm not really sure what problem he is even looking to solve, to be honest... all he needs to do is go hdmi from the bluray player to a pre-processor/avr, then hdmi from the pre-pro to the display and analog from the pre-pro/avr to his amplifiers...

Yes they are out... I have a 2 Port HDMI Splitter... (1) input (2) outputs its ver. 1.1 I'm using a Panasonic BD10A and it's ver. 1.1 so I can't tell you if it will work on the new codecs or not... ver. 1.3 using it with my PJ.

I also have an HDMI switcher... (2) inputs (1) output also ver. 1.1 using it for my Plasma crazy thing only has 1 input and thats not enough... They are very small, smaller than my cell phone and it comes with a adapter plug DC5V. but you don't have to use it. It works fine without the plug. Once it receives a signal from HDMI 1 or 2 a light comes on. I picked them up off of ebay... its a small shiny black box ( just type in 2 Ports HDMI Splitter or Switch) what ever you a looking for...

guys, a splitter (or a switcher for that matter) isn't going to do what he wants it to do (i.e. control the volume)... he HAS to either use a pre-pro or avr... SOMETHING has to process the digital signal...

I don't think he knows that most AVR's have at least 1 hdmi output for the display... No need for a splitter..

It's frustrating because all I need is to pass a volume controlled audio signal (from a Panny 55k) to my amps and a HDMI video to my CRT

Ted, sounds like you have answered your own question no need to get frustrated... just fix it. (not trying to be funny) but you know what you need to do...

well, if you are going to use the analog outs of the player, there's no shortage of cheap decent used avr's out there that you can use to do what you want to do... a lot of people are dumping really nice units because they need hdmi...

you'd have to check the individual player, i'm not familiar with all of them off the top of my head...

yup, that's what i meant... there's a bunch of nice cheap avr's that will do everything you need it to do... all you need it to have is analog in/analog out...

edit: to be honest, although you can do it that way, i'd STILL choose the option of finding the most inexpensive hdmi avr from a big name maker that has analog outs... that way you run one cable from the player to the processor and you are done... plus you get room correction, processing, etc. it really is the FAR superior option...

i would think it would be hard to go wrong with the pioneer vsx-1018 (call forum sponsors for a good price)... many people seem to like theirs... hdmi in... decent audio processing... pre-outs for your amps...

i'm sure that whatever denon/onkyo/yamaha that falls in that same price range will do the job as well...
