I think the display is bigger. Still when I said attractive I mean the elite line in general no matter what year.

This is very true. Except, I compare it more to Stereograms.
Right after installing room treatments, I sat and listened, and thought, "Hmmm, well, that's different" lol (sounded dull, for lack of a better word). Except, it only took a day for me to LOVE the new sound environment. I guess my brain got used to all the reflections. I'm talkin nothing but reflections, lol (new room, started from scratch). I'm in sonic bliss now. And, BTW, I am extremely impressed with MCACC Pro. I LOVE my SC-99 & Elite speakers too.

If that's the case pass the MCACC to Onkyo or have Dirac on both manufacturers.

Hi everyone. New Pioneer Elite VSX-LX101 owner here and I'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask some questions about MCACC and some options I've found on the receiver? Specifically I was looking for info on what to do with the following:

MCACC - Phase Control
Correct phase disturbance in the low range to enhance the bass. This
enables you to achieve powerful bass reproduction that is faithful to the
original sound.

MCACC - Theatre filter
Adjust the soundtrack that was processed to enhance its high pitch range, in
order to make it suitable for home theater. This function can be used in the
following listening modes: Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Surround,
Dolby TrueHD, Multichannel, DTS, DTSES, DTS 96/24, DTSHD HighResolution Audio, DTSHD
Master Audio, DTS Neural:X, DTS Express, Neo:6 Cinema, and DSD.

Other - Sound Retriever
Improve the quality of the compressed audio. Playback sound of lossy
compressed files such as MP3 will be improved. The setting can be
separately set to each input selector. The setting is effective in the signals of
48 kHz or less. The setting is not effective in the bitstream signals.

Other - DRC
Make small sounds easily heard. It is useful when you need to reduce the
volume while watching a movie late night. You can enjoy the effect only
when playing Dolby series and DTS series input signals.

Is it recommended to enable or disable any of the above to get a better sound?

Thanks.

Hello,

I recently bought me a Pioneer SC-LX79 which has MCACC Pro calibration.
I am satisfied with the sound after calibration except that there is hardly any base. I guess it may have to do with EQ, but I'm a beginner so I can not understand or know how to adjust the EQ so it will be better so the sound will be less bright.

I enclose some pictures of how the EQ is after calibration so maybe some kind soul can help me how to get less bright and a little more bass in the sound.

Please let me now if you want more info.

First you can try to lower the L+R channels everything beyond 2K.
First concentrate on the L+R channels with music. After that you can do your surrounds. When you do turn of the l+R channels.
Remember that surrounds does not carry large bass tones.

I see they are bit high to my opinion. Especially 8K which are the brighter tones.
Also you can play with the crossover if your sub. To get more bass. Otherwise play with the subwoofer bass frequencys.

Is MCACC only supposed to be used for movies?

I've had my Pioneer Elite AVR for about 8 years now (model: VSX-01TXH), and I recently rearranged my family room and decided to rerun MCACC. I revisited this thread and somewhere I read, or was swayed to believe, that MCACC is only for BluRays? Is that right? Should I be listening to music w/ MCACC off, or does it work for both music and movies?

I don't want to waste my time fine tuning for music if I really don't need to be.

Or... Is this simply an objective/personal opinion?

MCACC is a room calibration system which analyze the room acoustics. So yes if you redecorated the room is best to calibrate again.

You will benefit on music and movies.

You can always write up your eq settings and build up from what the new is after recalibration.

After all there is also personal preferences how a system sounds. Just tweak it the way you like it best.

Hey everyone. Recently moved my setup to another (better acoustics) in the house. Reran Full Auto MCACC and everything tested out fine however I lose output to the sub during playback of anything. Doesn't matter device type.

It only works when I reset the AVR and leave everything alone. Even went in and manually changed the mains to Large and that affected sub output.

Ideas?

Appreciate the quick reply however I went to -7.0db on the mains set to Large and lost the sub.

It's only working when I reset and not mess with settings

It's logical... If you set your speakers at large. The low frequencys goes to your fronts. And the sub gets a little.

Set your speakers at small even they are large and the sub plays again.
