After I bought a new soundcard yesterday, I started to use the multichannel inputs of my 3yr old av receiver, a Yamaha RX-V757. I had hardly used them before btw. I soon discovered that the sound was not good, it was a bit spatial and I suspected out of phase. This proved to be true after I changed the connections on one of the front speakers. To see if it had to do with the soundcard I connected my standalone dvd player to the multichannel inputs of the receiver but this gave also out of phase sound. It didn't make a difference when I only connected the front speakers.
Using the "normal" cd or dvd inputs, or the digital output of the soundcard the sound was perfect and in phase. So it must be the multichannel mode.
I already have reset my receiver to the factory defaults but that doesn't help.
Because I have hardly used the multichannel mode before, I don't know how long the problem already exists.
What could be the cause ?
(Btw, there is no phase switch on this receiver).
