The A31 is not bad at all for heat load when running normal volumes - this was a major concern for me. The A23 has only a couple watts class A bias so even less. The A21 generates more heat than the A31 due to higher class A bias. Agree on class D for movies.

IMHO, you don't need amps in a room that size anyway. I think for the most part, theater owners don't have heat problems which cause them to opt for class D. If the biggest issue one has is heat, then other priorities such as SQ may have to take a back seat.

Hello guys, that do you think to have model 2125 ( not V.2) for klipsch RF-82II's. Now I'm using DenonX4000 for all 5 speakers I have. Looking for some extra amp to be on the end 9.2 set up. How is this amp sounds for movies?
Or any other recommendation for different amp?

Denon X4000
Klipsch RF-82II's , RC-62II , RS-52II's , RB-81II's
SVS 2x PC12-Pluses
Emotiva XPA-3
Sony KDF-60XS955

Any of the new classic amps would do just fine with this setup. The Klipsch are very efficient so you dont need much power to get them singing. Does this answer your question?

I searched and didn't see any posts with this question - sorry if already answered. I was looking at Parasound's web site and noticed that all the amps in the "New Classic" line are now listed in the "Discontinued Products" page like this:

"NC Model 275 (2004-2014) "
"NC Model 2125 (2004-2014)"
"NC Model 2250 (2004-2014)"

But they are still on the "New Products" page as well - are they getting ready to discontinue this line?

2-Ch (HT L/R): Oppo BDP-105 BD, Adcom GFP-750 pre, Bryston 10B Sub Xover, Bryston 4BSST2 / Paradigm Signature S4 v.2 (L/R), (2) SVS SB12-NSD (Subs)
Home Theater: Bryston 4BSST2 amp / Paradigm CC-590 (C), Outlaw 7700 amp / (4) Def Tech UIW-RSSII (LS/RS/LB/RB), Samsung 46” 3D LCD

The NC models listed as discontinued are all Version 1. NC Version 2 models are listed under new models.

PM me for a complete description of the changes made for models with the V.2 designation.

What do you do what 2 Halo amps are just not enough? Break in another. Ok, going to try bi-amp, mono-blocking etc. See what happens before adding my other speakers to it.

Just a matter of writing a shipping list, checking it twice, and then filling a 20' or 40' container. And a passport with at least two years left on it.

Nice! I can picture that replacing the NAD M3 in my home office system. I'll have to keep an eye on this.

I believe JC1's are right now at $9500 a pair. I think I'm getting to the WAF zone and don't want to push it to far.

Well the Marantz SR709 only has 9 amps and I need 11 since I am doing 7.2.4 ATMOS

My humble Cinema

Spoken like a true AVS member..."I want bigger"...atta boy

I am in the same boat, my Stewart Cima screen is 110 and I could squeeze in the next size in the Cima line at 123 but just can't go any bigger than that...If I could, I would

I also have to figure out if I need another Halo amp as right now I have the A51 and A23 for 7 channels but with atmos I will need more channels.

In a room that's 12 x 13? Then you better go Class D, it's going to get cozy in there.

After several years as a happy Parasound owner I'm moving on, to a modest all Bryston setup. I've had a P7, an A52, and currently an A51, which will go up for sale once my Bryston amp arrives.

I have nothing bad to say about Parasound whatsoever. The company, the products, Richard Schramm are all first rate. Sometimes it's just time for a change.

I have also enjoyed the conversations on this thread over the years--a great group of posters, helpful, courteous, and what one would hope AVS'rs would be.

Nice knowing all of you!!

PM me if anyone is interested in the A51, otherwise look for it on Audiogon in a couple of weeks or so.

I would give you a note of caution on Bryston's preamps. I've read some owners not impressed, and a few years ago I auditioned an all bryston 2 channel set up with Paradigm Studio 60's. I was unimpressed, but it may have partly been the music.

If you can, I'd suggest comparing the Bryston pre to the P7 before selling it.

I have an SP3--no complaints here. I've heard some have issues with the 26 model. To each his own, I guess.

The Sp3 replaced my P7, but has been used with different sources, so I can't do a direct comparison. Both are great units, however. But I love the sound I have now. The only problem with the P7 for me was no digital inputs, so no way to hook up my Dish DVR--had to have a second processor in the rack. It worked but was a PITA.

Oh, you're going multi channel, for some reason I was assuming 2 channel! The SP3 is a different animal of course. I've got the P7 in a 2 channel set up, I can imagine it would not be suitable in your system.

My experience with Parasound and Richard Schram specifically has been first rate. I have a JC-2 preamp and JC-3 phono stage. The JC-2 opened the sound of my Sony XA5400ES compared to its sound through a Cary Cinema 11a, especially when playing DSD. I was as though a veil was lifted. And the JC-2 with the Ayre C-5xeMP achieves a naturalness of sound I've never experienced before. Finally, whatever magic Parasound uses for its mono setting of the JC-3 really works: Previously unlistenable old mono vinyl become enjoyable.

My experience with Parasound almost makes me want to replace my Proceed HPA amps with JC-1s, but the HPA amps are obviously Levinson amps in an industrial case, and i have high regard for them.

db

Thorens TD 124, SME Series III arm with Ortofon SME 30 H cartridge into Parasound JC-3 phono stage
Ayre C-5xeMP, Oppo BDP-105, & Sony XA5400ES disc players
Parasound JC-2 preamp into Proceed HPA amps
KEF Reference 107/2 mains & 102 surrounds
Velodyne SMS-1 bass managers & a pair of HGS-15 subs
