I have my A51 hooked up to a Monster Power Home Theatre Reference PowerCenter HTS 3500 MKII. Are you guys saying it's better to hook it up directly to the wall outlet? If so, isn't anyone concerned about power spikes, sudden loss of power, etc?

Word of mouth on message board is what has me considering Parasound. Other than that, nothing in particular. As I said, a lot of options in the space, but overwhelming. I'd welcome other recommendations, even if outside Psound.

Room is quite large. Probably 15' x 45' (open the length of the home). Hardwood with some area rugs. I've already spoken with GIK about recommendations for room treatments.
I know that Parasound neutralized the sometimes harsh sounding highs I had with the Sigs and across the spectrum, the results are the best I've heard my Paradigms sound. I've tried 3 other amps from NAD, Adcom and Emotiva. You do have a big space but with the 90db sensitivity filling it won't be an issue. I suppose the Marantz would serve as pre?

If you are serious about researching Parasound, I'd email or phone the company itself. Explain that you are considering a Halo amp for you Monitor GX300 speakers, and you will no doubt be passed over to Richard Scrham, the owner. The guy is amazing, and his knowledge on the products is second to none. He's answered emails on sunday and anyone who deals with the company comes away impressed.

I dealt with a dealer, and was also impressed. He told me that my v2 S6 Paradigms can have some issues with the A21 when pushed to hard, they've had to replace some drivers. As I hate blasting music and rarely go above 85db, he said that would be no problem at all, and the v3 had no such issue.

If it was me, I'd go for the A21 and be done with it, it's a very musical amp. But everyone has different priorities, and budgets can come into play.

I've been doing a lot of reading lately, and power conditioners all seem to restrict AQ for power amps. I have a whole house surge protector and so could plug an amp directly into the wall. But isolation transformers look like the best answer. Torus Power units get great reviews, but are not cheap.

I also use a whole house surge suppressor.
The A51 and other amps did degrade the performance.
I would compare them as best you can at modest volume (in the 80's).

Note the Bryston BIT power conditioners are the same as the Torus RM models (with a Bryston nameplate). Same exact price, with the advantage of being able to buy it locally at any Bryston dealer.

For judging the age of the amp and resale value, I would definitely think it matters.

I suggest that you compare the serial numbers. If I recall correctly the Amp with the red P badge is newer.
