Hi guys. I have an A31 already. I think I want to amp all my channels now. Just wanted to hear some opinions.

Should I sell/trade for an A21 and buy an A51? Just get an A51 and have an extra channel? Or probably the most economical and easiest just buy an A21 and get a decent 100-200w 2ch (maybe 2x2ch) amp for surrounds? The last option makes the most sense for the most reasons but if you guys have any input on my first two options mentioned let me have it. And if I go with 3rd I will probably stick with paradigms so what of their smaller non halo amps would you recommend for most bamg for buck? I have also thought about outlaw's 5ch amp that sells for $600 or $700. I forgot. Thinking about down the road if I ever do upgrade to the newer standards though object based formats still don't interest me nor have I been impressed still. Waiting for it to mature. And I'm also thinking when the onkyo 3009 kicks the bucket or I see a good AVR or preferably a used TOTL pre pro that is too good to pass up I'll be covered. Anyways, thoughts on amp situation? A21 first and just wait for a good deal on another halo A21 or get a non halo sound good for surrounds?

Check out my ad in the classifieds section. I would like to trade my older A51 for a newer A31, straight across.

Why not keep the A 31 for LCR and buy a couple of A 23s for side and rear surrounds? I use JC 1 monoblocks for LCR with A 23s driving KEF LS50s side and rear surrounds. Sounds good to me.

You may find a pair of A 23s on the used market for a good price.

I had an A31 across the fronts and an A23 for rears until my most recent revision. Thats a nice option and economical. I just sold my 23 for under $700. Before that I had anA52 for the rears and Atmos speakers using 4 of 5 channels. What I didn't like about that is the heat that 5 channel amps put out. If you want to stay Parasound, you can use a zone master for the rears and later Atmos if you get enough channels. I'm currently running a zonemaster 450 bridged 2 channel and can either add another or use the 450 in 4 channel mode. You have lots of options including yours. Good luck with your selection

Basically what I am leaning towards. A21 and zonemasters probably. Trying to avoid buying a pair of JBL 590s for $750. Now need safeandsound with some b stock.

Has class d gotten any better? It sounds so sterile next to an A-A/B amp like parasound or older onkyos.

I'm ok with sterile for movies, they are on the sterile side anyway. I don't do multichannel music very often.

This will give you an idea of what Class D can sound like and not too expensively at that - with some very interesting comparisons to Devialet, Bel Canto Ref. 1000M's, VTL's and W4S among others. The thread started early in 2010 therefore some links have been outdated but nonetheless an enlightening read.

Can anyone please tell me how the cover for the fuse on the rear panel of the Halo Integrated is removed? It seems pretty snug, and I don't want to damage anything. Thank you.

If its like the one on the Halo A21,it should require a Phillips head screw driver.

It slides out like a drawer. You put the screwdriver underneath it where there is a small notch in order to start it going. No need to unscrew anything.

Interesting and thank you for that. It worked when I posted this morning and certainly before that. But when doing a search on "Audio Circle", I click on the main site link and as of now get the following:

It works!

This is the default web page for this server.
The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet.

So it appears that they may be doing some maintenance. I'll post an update when I find they're accessible again.

Do Parasound Halo amps have a build date on each unit? I'm going to look at a demo A21 in the next few days and I'd like to know the build date of the unit if possible.

I just looked at pics of my A21, A31 and old A23. I don't see one anywhere.

Get the serial number and send it to Parasound and they will check it for you.

I second that. Give us a call between 9-4 PST and we can look up the date of manufacture ask for Esther or Brendon.

I've run an A21 for a few years now. Can't say I notice much if any difference from power up to power down, and I am sound conscious.

See ya. Dave

I imagine our participation in a parasound owners thread hosted on a forum full of AV geeks means we all are. Don't believe it? Just ask any of our wives.
