Hi all, a few updates.

I switched over an ran the 12V trigger cable from my receiver to the A23, and now it doesn't auto shutoff at low volume!

Second, I'm still getting some buzz, especially through my tweeters. I was considering buying a power conditioner (leaning towards a Furman Elite), but noticed some posts from a few years back where people (Rich) weren't necessarily recommending them.

Inputs/thoughts?

I have a question the Marantz 7702 puts out 1.2 volts through the pre amp outputs is that RMS or peak voltage. I bought a Parasound 5250 V1 and it states in the manual it needs 1 volt for THX levels and 1.6 volts to drive it to full power. So i am worried that i will not get the full power out of this amp and possibly clip the 7702 outputs could someone explain this to me thanks! I am worried about this as the LSIM polk speakers i have have a nominal impedance of 5 ohms and i am in a 5000 cubit foot room.

Sony Z9D / Marantz AV 7702 / Parasound 5250 V1 / Polk LSIM 705 / Polk LSIM 706C / Polk 702 FX / GoldenEar XXL / PS4 Pro/

It's not likely that power conditioners will help. I tried a Torus on my Parasound amps and the only thing that reduced my hum to an extremely low level was using a HumX on each of my amps. My amps are on a separate circuit from my Datasat preamp/processor.

Datasat LS10__ Parasound Halo A31 , Parasound Zonemaster 1250, Parasound Zonemaster 450
Procella P8 LCR, Procella P5iw and P5v for surround & ceiling
JTR Captivator S2 dual 18", JTR Captivator S1 single 18", Dual Seaton Submersives with dual 15"
2.40:1 Seymour XD Acoustically Transparent (AT) screen, 128" diagonal / 118" wide __ Projector: JVC 4910

Hello there,

I have a question for owners or enthusiasts alike that know more than me!

I have a short list of amplifiers that I am considering and would love some feedback. Here is the list below.

Parasound HCA-2200II
Proceed HPA 2 or 3
Citation 7.1
McCormack Power Drive DNA-1

Can anyone provide any feed back to their experiences and impressions or thoughts with these amps? I am really intrigued with comparison between the Parasound HCA -2200II and Citation 7.1. I love movies and probably 60/40 for movies.
but lately have been enamored with 2 channel music. I rub 4 ohm speakers and want to make sure which ever amp I decide to go with if I find one...will have enough power for anything I pair with it. I currently have KEF signature series model 1 4 ohm speakers which are pleasant to listen to with music. The last question is budget. What would be a fair to good price for these units? I suppose I like a neutral sound and not to bright. I hear the parasound is neutral and this unit has a lot of power to spare but due to this loses some clarity with the highs? would love some opinions here.

I know these units are 20 plus years old which is another concern and hope a service call wont need to happen for a while if I decide to go ahead with one. Im assuming all of these amp as AB right? with a smaller wattage load going to A?

[I]Video: Sony XBR-75X850C 75 inch 4k - Samsung 55inch 4k - 58 PANASONIC PZ850u plasma
4k-Blu Ray: Samsung UBD‑K8500 - PS3 -
Amp and power : Pioneer elite SC - 27 - Monster Power AVS 2000 Reference
Speakers and Sub : Def Tech BP 10s - Def Tech CLR 2000 - Def tech UIW BP/A in ceiling rears - Def tech BPX Rears - JTR Captivator 118HT

Any JC1 owners out there that could chime in on longevity or a ballpark cost to refurbish these amps? I'm looking at a 10 year old pair and I see what 10 year old krells cost to go thru and don't caps dry out on these things? Guys replace their x-over boards in speakers after time. any experience would be appreciated.

Interesting, see a lot of posts last few months here with folks getting back into 2 channel music in conjunction with their surround sound systems. I am same, and few months ago purchased a Parasound A21 for this purpose, really is a super Amp.

For less expensive but lot newer, I would suggest looking at used 2250 V2 amps from Parasound. Probably only 1/2-1 step below the A21 which new costs 2.5x more. I was leaning towards that until I ran across a great deal on new open box A21.

Good luck in your choice!

Out of curiosity how does the Revel 206 compare to the Lsim 703 purely from a sound perspective not bass quantity?

The Revel F206 is a top flight speaker and sounds great. The Polk LSiM 703 is a VG bookshelf but doesn't have the quality or quantity of the F206 drivers.

I must say, my wife and I performed basic A/B of the 703s vs the Revel M16s; we both preferred the clarity & separation for music with the 703s

I suggest that you call our tech department and ask for Tony. He is our chief technician and would have the best information about JC1's recapping refurbishing etc. From what I see the caps used in the JC1's are very rarely replaced.

Usually line out specs are peak voltage within a certain distortion parameter, but don't count on it. There isn't exactly any agreed upon process.

I wouldn't worry about it. Your ears would pop before your 5250 maxed out under a 5 ohm load.

Yeah your are probably right. What puzzles me when looking at the specs between the V1 and V2 of the 5250 the V1 can pull 2500 watts and the V2 can pull 1800 watts from the wall and that is only surpassed by the A51 3000 watts max. Not that i would ever even get remotely close to that just saying the amount of power and current capability of this amp wow. I was more concerned with clipping the pre amp with not having enough pre amp voltage and cause clipping.

I used a 7702 MKii with an A51 for about a year and heard no ill effects. Audyssey would typically set my trims between -1 and +2. If you're concerned with clipping, just keep your preout trims below zero and enjoy.

It looks like the heat sinks are inside the case. I would be wary of using this amp without active cooling in your rack or cabinet.

A23's, which I had a pair of, got much hotter than my A21 or A31 (which both have external heat fins) and would even give my A51 a run for it's money in the heat department. The A52 looks to be similar to five A23 channels in a small case. Unless Parasound did some serious rebiasing, that baby's gonna cook!

We received a steady amount of inquires about the A52 and when it was coming back. We brought it back by popular demand and in Parasound fashion added more power to keep people grinning.

Let us know what you think after you had some time with the new A52+

I know this is the "amp" thread, but how 'bout that new JC3 Jr.? I have the zphono now because the JC3+ was just too much money for my dabble into vinyl. The Jr. looks really appealing to part-time vinyl guys like myself. I'm looking forward to checking it out. I hope Richard brings one to RMAF this weekend.

The JC 3 Jr. is a pre AMP so I think we are ok.

Richard will be at RMAF along with Phil who will be doing some demos with the JC 3 Jr. We will have a few of these on active display as well as passive samples.
Let me know if you have any questions about this model.

Enjoy!

Let us know what you think after you had some time with the new A52+
Let's bring back the GMAS then!

Richard will be at RMAF along with Phil who will be doing some demos with the JC 3 Jr. We will have a few of these on active display as well as passive samples.
Let me know if you have any questions about this model.

Enjoy!

The JC 3 Jr looks like a great deal! Can't wait to hear the reviews. It appears to share a significant amount of technology with my JC3+...which I have enjoyed immensely since I purchased it!

Yes. It is a phono stage preamp for MM and MC cartridges. It also represents the first 1 RU Halo product.
