I am not really an audiophile per se, but do enjoy good music. Will mostly be tv, movies with some Pandora/itunes thrown in.

If it were me I would get the 5250 and pocket the substantial difference. I own a 5250 (not v2) and am very happy with it for both casual and serious listening.

I went the A51 route and am very happy with the results. Plenty of power, great control, you get the Halo and you'll be very happy.

Just purchased a A52 to use with my Yammie Z7 in pre-amp mode and cannot be happier.. works great in my condo and powers my Def Tech 7002's, CLR 2500 and infinity ebntra rears and rear center like crazy!!! The yammie was great but the parasound halo A52 with "only" 125 w per channel and my Parasound 5125 (to power the rear centers) make my system sound like a whole new one!! Parasound rocks.. detailed.. yet dynamic!! Doesn't seem to run out of power for music or movies.. and detailed.. I used to like my old Sunfire Cinema amp.. I think the parasound sounds better......just my .02 smile.gif

Squarely in the Para camp now: Just added another 275 to my stable of amps (HCA1500a, HCA1000a, 2125, and now 2 of the 275s). Needed another amp for front wides and figured I'd keep it all in the family especially with them all being THX certified. The HCAs run my 4 ohm speakers without breaking a sweat - barely even warm to the touch.

Congtats on the A52 I love mine to and couldnt be happier. Like you said it never runs out of steam for movies and music. I switched from a emo xpa 2 and 3 and the A52 seems like it has just as much power but soumds so much better with my setup.

When you fire it up, let it run steady for a few hundred hours. That A51 will only get better with time on it.

I love my A51, and It is a "beast". I had to get someone (with enough strength) to lift it from the box and position into place. Can be difficult to find a cabinet that can handle (20 inch) depth. I ultimately positioned my unit on top of a BDI Axis rack, functions very nice this way for heat dispersion. I'm running Monitor Audio GS-Series speakers (GS-60 fronts, GS-LCR center, GS-FX rears), Marantz AV7005 pre-pro, JL Audio F110 sub, Oppo BDP-95 player, Sony SCD-XA5400ES player. The A51 really kicks-ass in my system. Very clean and dynamic, great match with the Monitor Audio GS-Series (although can be on the "brite" side at times depending on the source).

You are gonna love the combination of the NAD M15HD2 and the A51, perfect match (I think). This is what I really wanted, but could'nt afford the M15HD2 price (I went for the AV7005, which I like very much). I initially used an NAD T175 combined with the A51, really great match, beautiful analog sound for music sources (using Denon DVD-3930CI player).

A few shots of my original system configuration. Will have updated views of new configuration soon

Yes, it sounds awesome!! It's funny you mention the emo's .. I almost went with the XPA-5 or XPA-2/3 COMBO and my wife said just spend the extra $$ and get what you really want.. you will be happier.. and of course she is right.. I am glad I didn't cheap out, while I think they would have been OK.. i would not have gotten the finesse I was after.. and my wife of course is right about my gut feeling.. I am so glad she let me spend the extra dough... you certainly do "get what you paid for"!!!. it was really worth it and i got a "factory refreshed" A52 for a great deal and a 2125 for my rear center ( i will probably add another rear center in the future) smile.gif

I was planning to Review Emo's new one (xpr5) and compare it to the Parasound. They made excuses and never shipped one. And yes, I was offering to pay. Guess the only way to get her done is to just check out on their site. Problem is I don't want to have to sell it at a loss afterwards. Parasound offered to send out their latest without any issue. They looked forward to that comparison. smile.gif

And I also have had their amps before. Even their MPS-2 which was pretty good until I got a B&k 200.7. Then I went Parasound (A51) which has been my favorite ever since. Those that say an Amp is an Amp have never compared.

Hm? You can have one sent to you then send it back within 30 days, all you have to pay is return shipping.

Amps may sound the same....but there is no substitute for quality, in both circuit design and parts. Notice I used the word 'may' not 'will'
Even if two amps were the same design, but one had lower quality parts, there would be a difference.
My now 10 year old HCA2205A is comparable to my HK Citation 19, which I also still use.

Hello,
The cool thing is the 2205a/AT is close to identical to the A51, There is a difference of a 2.2 kVA Toroidal Transformer in the A51 to 2.0 kVA in the 2205. And 164,000uf Filter Capacitance in the A51 and 150,000uf in the 2205,.
Cheers,

Glad your happy also your wife is a smart girl. Like you said you would of been ok with a Emo but so much better off with a Parasound IMO . They have such a low floor noise and sound very detailed with a wider sounding front stage. Also they look beautiful !!

Is it possible to send a digital or analog stereo to Parasound 7100 and get a 2.1(two channel plus sub) channel out of it?

True. But after asking to do a Review they wouldn't want to sell me one knowing they will most likely get it back. Plus that is a lot of effort and cost to give them a Review on my site. Especially when other companies send me product for Review. Lately they ask me. smile.gif

I don't mind paying cost and shipping but I will not commit to a component if I am going to take a loss on it.

Does anyone know a place where I can get a trigger cable (between a A23 and A51)? It's really hard to find one. Thanks!

It only requires a sub. Connect the sub out from the 7100 to the SW input. The 7100 has full bass management.

Since both units are Halos, aren't they 2.5 mm mini-plugs on each end? Seems to me that should be common enough. Did you try Radio Shack? I was able to 12v triggers with different size mini plugs on each end from Radio Shack when connecting my Pioneer Elite SC-25 AVR to my Parasound power amp. Nice amps you got by the way. Good luck.

The folks at Parasound are so nice I bet that if you send them an email they will ship one out to you right away. Or, as the other poster noted, you should be able to use a generic cable. I think one that I am using on one of my amps came with a set of Sony ear buds.wink.gif

I'm another former Emotiva owner too. Well, I still own the XPA-3, but it sits unused until I get around to selling it. The A21(in my 2 channel system) outperforms it and looks 10 times nicer while doing it. I directly compared the 2 with a sound meter in hand to have the same volume. The Emotiva amp started to get harsh by around 83db peaks, with a hard "sss" whenever the vocalist sang an s. The Parsound stayed in control with this and had more texture to the sound and warmth to the voice frequencies.

Glad it worked out.

I recently purchased another 275 amp for front wides and considered a lot of different amps figuring I really didn't need much to power those speakers but came back around to my senses and bought the Parasound because of past customer service just like you experienced. Unless one of my amps burns out, I doubt I will be buying any more amps anytime soon. Heck, even if it burns out, I can probably ship it back for repair.

I've had my P7 for a couple of weeks so I guess I can made a legitimate post now. I am very happy with my purchase. As a 5.1 preamp for dvd-a, sacd, and dts-hd master audio playback the P7 is performing beautifully. There is more detail in the music and a much better defined surround field than I ever had before. Lovin' it!

Yes, the P7 is a fine piece of gear. Most certainly very detailed sound. Most find that to be true of all Parasound amps.
I've been missing mine, sent it up to Quito to replace the SR232 circuit.
The bad RS232 causes the unit to not turn on, so those last few months I had to leave it on. Then after I moved it never would turn on again, so I sent it in for repair.
I should be getting it back next week.
The one thing I wish Parasound had done was add other XO frequencies besides the 50, 80 htz. I would have liked 100 also, so I could come closer to the Performance Series internal XO, using my sub1500s. But in my current setup I have them separated, so I am back to 80 XO.
I certainly like to be able to adjust all the settings on the fly with the P7, something I can not do with my HK3390.

Life is compromise. I'm having to get used to the 0.5 steps that are characteristic of all the display settings in the P7 design. The old style analog components give you a knob that you rotate and set with your ears - no display necessary - and more precision. BUT - the P7 outperforms my old Arcam Alphas by miles. I have to re-train my ears to the new design. That sounds like a bad thing but at the same time my ears are getting many sweet moments that they were never getting before. The bottom line is that my system has moved up considerably.
