I've been looking at buying a stereo system and have come across a salesperson who showed me great speakers but then tried to push a Rotel 1550 on me for a receiver. Now while I don't mind spending the extra cash if it's worth it I can't find enough opinions or comparisons on this receiver to others. If I could have your opinions or if you could show me some links on opinions that would be great. Thanks.

Does google not work for you?

Works for me?

http://www.google.com/search?q=rotel...ient=firefox-a

Note that many magazine reviews are generally positive, for obvious reasons.

Forgetting all of that crap why not A/B the rotel with a lower priced AVR or even what you have now perhaps? I dont see how a review would really help other than to tell you how awesome a piece of gear is as hinted my MJH above.

Also, I dont think opinions of other really helps given its just that - opinions of others who have different speakers, rooms, listening habits and most important ears...

Try to compare there in tha dealers place. Its the only way to be somehwat sure.

What are the "great speakers" that you listened to? For all we know they might be low impedance or low efficiency type and require hi current amp - Rotel being the brand that this store sells for that situation.

Make note that that Google query returns a lot of hits about the Rotel 10-series. The OP's inqury was about the new Rotel 15-series, which is new, and reviews are sparse.

I read somewhere that the 15-series looks "expensive and intimidating." "Look and feel" are important to me, and the new Rotels score well in that regard -- I've tinkered with the new flagship receiver at my local shop, and it is an elegant piece, no doubt.

On the other hand, there's lots of competition among the better-quality-receiver segmant, and I run separates, so I'm not so sure how the new Rotels rate compared to, say, Denon, Marantz, Sony ES or others in terms of dollar value.

In any event, I doubt you'd be unhappy with a 15-series receiver, assuming your wallet would forgive you.

If you clicked on the link, and went through a few pages of links from the search, you should have been able to find a review on the receiver the OP mentioned.
