Panasonic told me I should have purchase their receiver if I wanted to use Viera Link, lol. What customer service!

Otherwise, I love it. Just purchased an IR blaster and said to heck with Viera Link.

works fine with my plasma (46" 85U). not sure what all features you're trying though.

I'm just going to get a Harmony one + ps3 adapter anyways in a couple of months

Actually, it would. Switching HDMI signals is fairly straightforward. Overlaying an image (like a volume indicator) over an HDMI signal is completely different and requires a lot more processing power. The "OSD circuitry" you're referring to just creates an image from scratch, switches the HDMI output to that internal input, and sends it out the port. To paint that image over a moving video signal without degrading the quality of the underlying video signal requires hardware you won't see in a $500 AVR for some time to come.

Yeah, I went with that deal instead. That way I get the extra sub to turn my .1 into a .2.

For those of you who have theirs set up already, is there anything I can/should do ahead of time so I'm ready to go and get it set up as soon and easily as possible?

Are there any specific steps or settings I should make sure I go through once I get it and start setting it up, other than the obvious ones? Like tips or tricks or things you've picked up on forums that aren't easily found in the manual?

I'm excited to finally get a new receiver, and a really good one at that.

I would have been happy with a simple on/off and volume control. but alas, nothing with the G10.

I pulled the trigger and called in and had JR pricematch 6ave.com. They would only go down to $377.99, but who cares over $3 since I will be getting it in 3-4 days instead of 21+ at 6ave.

Also, I was never asked which color I wanted. I went on their site and couldn't find the silver model, so they probably don't carry it. Oh well, I wanted the black one anyway.

Arg! The _only_ thing keeping me from pulling the trigger at this price is that the 607 as the 2EQ Audyssey vs. the Denon 1909 (or upcoming 1910 or 1610) with Multi-EQ.

Has anyone figured out if this is _too_ much of a big deal? I'm coming from an old Onkyo HTIB that only lets you set the distance to the speakers, so anything will be better, but I don't want to regret not getting the better system.

I know there's lots in the forums, and I'm still searching, but thought I'd ask!

Thanks!

Kevin

Just got JR to price match. Great place. I'd never heard of them before but will shop there again.

Anyone link me recommendations on speakers to pair with this receiver? I think I'd like some in-ceiling surrounds but haven't yet decided about in-wall fronts or not. Right now I've just got some crapped sony satellites that came with the HTIB.

Thanks.

Yeah, I just said that I was interested in the 607 and that 6ave.com had it for 375 and if they could price match them. They told me the lowest they could go was 377.99 with $25 shipping. I told them I would have to pass, he put me on hold and then came back saying he would waive the $25 shipping.

So I got it for $377.99. I will be shopping there again.

Lowest they would go for me was $380, which was fine with me, so I ordered with J&R. Rather not wait for 6ave.

I am starting to doubt that J & R has these in stock. I originally ordered this from 6ave before I posted the deal on slickdeals so I should have been one of the first to receive their stuff but on calling and seeing where my order was at, it was at back of the line. So I canceled and got J & R to price match for the exact same price 3 days ago and on the website it says will ship out in 1-2 days. Been 3 days now and still has not shipped or been charged.

speakers define the sound, not the receiver.the most important part of the system. i have read of people that purchase $2000 receivers, and pair them with htib speakers. i just got to laugh!
i received e-mail from acend acoustics about a really good deal, you might hit them up. well reguarded speakers.

I asked the same thing a few days ago and didn't get a response. I understand what the basic differences are -- fewer measurement positions factored in, lower resolution filters, and no subwoofer correction. But I still can't determine whether that's actually a big drawback or not and whether a system configured via MultiEQ would sound significantly better.

Can someone help with this?

I have an older HD RPTV with only Component in. No HDMI. I want to hook up my PS3 which I would connect to this receiver via HDMI, then out to the TV via component. Will it pass an HDMI signal from both the PS3 and my DirecTV STB over Component to the TV???

Thanks in advance, gurus.

I'm confused about the JR/6ave price matching. I looked on 6ave.com and see it for $499. What am I missing?

My Media Room Construction thread. Work began 2/15/05, finished 7.1 install 6/2005. Sold house 7/2007.

There is a coupon code a page or two back that you need to get the discount. Not sure how long it's good for.
