Correct. Both devices must feature HDMI(ARC) in order for it to work. Also note that a TV is not going to pass HD audio using HDMI (ARC). In fact many TVs can only pass PCM 2.0 over HDMI(ARC) which is why in those cases the optical output is the better option as it can also pass DD 5.1 in addition to the PCM 2.0.

I had to do a reset of my AVR and redid the ODYSEE set up

When I listen to tuner I have it at -30 but when I switch it to MPV( tv ) I have to put it at -13

Before the reset I had my AVR volume at -26 and the volume was good for Tuner, tv and PS3

last time I did the odysee was 4 years ago. I did the 6 positions microphone as stipulated. Can some one tell where I went wrong. tia

Hi frankmar, maybe you selected "no" to Dynamic Volume at end of setup. Try changing Dynamic Volume to Evening and set Reference Level Offset to 10dB.

Although running Audyssey will set the level of each of your speakers/sub in relation to each other, it's possible there can be a difference in volume between sources. First check to see if Dynamic Volume is ON for all sources as JChin suggests, otherwise, you may have also used the Source Level setting in the past to adjust the difference in volume between sources.

yes my dynamic volume was off, put as suggested, -26 is good for tv, but a little loud for tuner,

I forgot there is a dynamic volume for each of the input, I had it on for tuner but not for PVR.

Also the Source level can be ajdusted

Also, some times since this reset I get a video but sound from tv then shut the avr off and then on and its ok

Headphone Amp

My set up is as follows:

PS4/Wii/Comcast (hdmi) -> Denon AVR1910 (hdmi) -> Speakers

http://content.abt.com/documents/223...910_manual.pdf

Headphones: Denon 770 600 ohm and Grado SR325i
Amp: Little Dot Mkiii

I want to achieve a set up where i can hook up a headphone amp to the Denon AVR that allows me to bypass the headphone out jack. At the same time, I want it to be be as simple as possible so I don't have to disconnect/reconnect anything when I want to use my speakers. The last requirement, if possible, is to have surround sound output to the headphones like the headphone out jack provides

Or is it possible to buy a switch to put between the sources and the receiver?

Thanks
John

Connect the MKIII to the Zone 2 pre-outs and you'll be able to pass any audio connected with analog cables to the AVR, otherwise no can do on HDMI or digital sources as there are no main zone pre-outs on this model.

I had a feeling that would be the case. I am thinking my best option would be to get a separate dac (i.e Astro mixamp) and connect it to the optical/usb source of the PS4/Wii as needed.

Does this amp support Dolby Headphone? If yes, does it only work with Dolby Digital in or does it work with other input signals like DTS and LPCM?

No, that was dropped on Denon AVRs about 5 years ago and then only on the upper level models.

It has a specialised Denon DSP - VIRTUAL mode that is supposed to provide a surround sound effect, but not certain how much of a difference you would notice.

I have been playing with the avr today and notice a few more modes when headphones are plugged in:

Virtual
Direct
5CH Stereo

Are these all surround modes as well?

Long time user of the 1910 here. This has been a very solid piece of equipment for me in the 5 years I've owned it.

Looking at current offerings, I see the S700W is $299 recertified. That's a great deal if you were looking to get something with more modern features. The question is, would you make the change?

Audio quality should be the same, so change if you want more features. Upgrade to the X1100 or X2100 for the better Audyssey MultEQ XT.
