Yes, I know.

Upgrading my 2310 firmware threw some glitch at my TV and I'm suggesting disconnecting the tv before doing upgrades

Not sure what 8.2 refers to, but yes, it makes sense that you wouldn't have any other connected devices turned on when updating the firmware.

FWCV_AVR_AVC2310_AVR890_V0082_SETUP.exe --- although the upgraded device reports that it is Ver00.69. Go figure.

No real problems, just wanted to warn gr8blueseas

I have a problem with AC3 pass-through from my HTPC. Using MPC-HC and ffdshow to the Denon via HDMI, DTS and 6 channel AC3 pass-though perfectly, but 2 channel AC3 shows as stereo, not Dolby Digital.

Is this due to some setting on the AVR? I have been through Batpig's helpful guide but can't find a solution.

Thanks.

You have no problem that is correct operation. It is telling you the surround mode not the input signal.

If you check the input signal status (i.e. by going to the Information Menu) it will report DOLBY DIGITAL 2/0/0

Hey guys I'm new to the forum, probably because I just Started my home theatre project a couple of weeks ago. I am having a problem with my setup and I hope that someone can help me. I have a 2310 ci hooked up to a lg cf181d projector and a lg bd 570 blu ray player. My problem is that after I turn off my reciever with small power button it will not work when I turn it back on. What I mean by that is it doesnt pass audio to the speakers or video to the projector through any output. forgot to mention I also have a dish network 722k dvr hooked up to it as well. Neither will work. Also I can't access to menu via the remote or front of the reciever. I can change inputs and the tuner works but nothing else. I called denon they had me do some things like shorter hdmi cables and reverse handshake stuff but it didnt work. They had no solutions. I reset the microprosessor and it worked perfectly until I turned It off today to check the firmware version. When I tried to reset the microprosessor again to fix the problem It didn't work. Can someone please help with this issue. The reciever is only one week old !

First of all, welcome to the forum! I wouldn't have been able to piece my first theater without the fine people here. Sorry I can't be of help with your problem, but I'm sure someone will soon.

Sounds like you may have a defective AVR and your best option is to return it and if another is still available exchange it (or else exchange for the newer 2311). Are you using an HDMI-DVI adapter to the PJ? Try disconnecting the cable to the PJ and power on the AVR to see if that makes any difference in at least passing audio. Were you able to determine what firmware version is currently installed? If exchanging is not an option, you could try updating the firmware (see link in my sig).

Got my 2310 hooked up, and got my new center BIC and WAF-1 bookshelf speakers.
Got some time to run the room correction. Sounds really nice. Now I need to order the new subwoofer. Thinking the lava will do.

Can the Anchor Bay ABT 2010 processing be set by inputs? Active in one and bypassed in the next?

I also wanted the lava but couldn't wait so I went for the bic pl200 and coupled with the 2310 I am very pleased. After the audessy setup it has a nice flat/clean sound so music sounds good and it works great for HT, just to let you know.

I popped in Cloverfield and I thought the house was coming apart. With no other sounds going on at the very begining there had to be lower than 20 to 22 hz. Kind of like a car coming through the roof, lol. Btw it's a crawl space house with hardwood floors.

Sorry for being a little off topic but do you like the BIC center speaker? I'm thinking about upgrading my center as it's a polk cs2 and I think it sounds like a cheap cabinet compared to my fronts and the dialog is a little weak. I'll do some tweaking for now though.

I recently inserted a Sony BDP-770 universal player (with December, 2010 firmware) via HDMI into my Denon 2310ci (with updated firmware). When I attempt to play multichannel SACD's, converted to 24/176 in the player so as to utilize Audyssey in the AVR, I get either no sound or so many audio dropouts as to amount to the same thing.

I swapped an OPPO BDP-83SE into the system and everything was fine.

What am I doing wrong? (Other than buying a Sony and trying to get online and telephone assistance from their support team?)

Thanks!

Was the DSD converted to 24/176 PCM in the Oppo as well as the 2310 cannot process freq above 96khz with Audyssey enabled? Try turning Audyssey OFF.

Wow! All OPPO's (even the brand new BDP-93) only convert to 24/88 PCM. So the problem may be the Denon's inability to handle the Sony's higher rate with Audessey ON. The point of buying the Sony was to feed hi-rez PCM into an AVR with Audyssey ON, but that may be impossible. I'll turn Audyssey OFF and troubleshoot this evening.

Thanks..

While I defer to jdsmoothie on all Denon AVR questions, I used to own a 2310 and, if memory serves, I had no trouble feeding it 24/192 multichannel PCM via HDMI using an Esoteric DV-60 playing hi-rez DVD-A discs (Neil Young's "Harvest" and Jackson Brown's "Running on Empty" come to mind).

Audyssey was engaged at all times. If Audyssey could not handle the high PCM bit rate, it must have quietly disengaged itself. There were no outward signs of a conflict, such as the skipping and drop-outs described by Acesn8s.

Losing Audyssey DSP is obviously undesirable. If you are looking for more audiophile specs and performance you will need to move up the AVR chain a notch or two. The 2809, 4310, 4311, etc., do not have that processing restriction. Furthermore they all offer DSD decoding in the AVR, MultEQXT, better DACs, etc., and with good speakers you will hear the difference.

Yes, I still like playing with Dalis.

Whipit,

So far I like the bic center it is the 52, the 62 was too big for the space. I am coming from bose.... So lots of changes. It does have rear ports thinking I am going to plug them and run audessey again see if it sounds different. Since my sub is going in the entertainment center. No other place I need it sealed or front ported hence the lava idea.

Thanks b_fuss, I've heard good things about lava. The bic's rear port would be slamming against the back, so maybe not a good idea.

Yes. In fact any Denon AVR can pass through video as is when the setting is set to OFF.

No, only audio from HDMI sources can pass through the 2310 to the TV.

Not really. Basically the display has to be turned on before the Denon (if starting from all off). So I can start up the devices individually, but if I'm coming from another activity where everything is already up and running, it means toggling the Denon off/on to force a handshake.

Surefire is simply reseating the HDMI cable on the HTPC. A real PITA, but I've accepted it. I don't remember this ever being a problem pre-CCC 10 or so, do you?
