j/k!

I sometimes hated Onkyo for issues I have had in the past but they just get it.....they simply get products to the market when others fail. When will the high end uber brands get DSX or the latest Dolby stuff....2015?

I agree, before I purchased my 885 I never liked Onkyo ether. Also, WTF...9.2 XLR Preouts. This thing is sick.

I had a 707 on order, but canceled after I decided to splurge and hold out for the 5507.

I will be using this with a pair of UPA-7 amps in either a 9.x or 11.x configuration.

But even at this point (the 11th hour), I'm unsure about whether or not 11.x is possible with DSX, PLIIz, or the 5507's pre-outs. I'd like to run 1x C, 2x F, 2x FW, 2x FH, 2x S, and 2x SB. From what I've read so far, it looks like I'll have to ditch the SBs and run 9.x. Hell, I'm not even 100% sure I can use FW and FH at the same time even though it's well documented on Audyssey's site. Can someone give me the bottom line?

Does anyone know if the 2 HDMI outputs will be independent? I know the 885 and 886 outputs were one or the other, but the other x007 models have been throwing around the the word "parallel".

www. aventhusiast.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/OnkyoSC5507rear.jpg shows the back panel of the pr sc887. This is obviously a picture of a US model shown on a British website. In Europe it'll no doubt be called the PR SC5507 and is rumored to have a MSRP of 2,000 Euros. When you subtract the European VAT tax it'll probably sell for a MSRP of $2,000 in the states or even more if ordered through Integra.

7 HDMI ports and 9.2 XLR's...isn't that the minimal standard? LOL!

I would presume a US MSRP of $2k. Then around $1500.00 in 6 months. Just a stab in the dark

I recall reading in Stereophile that the older SC886 processor was being tested with MultiEQ Pro or something. But I wasn't sure if the writer was referring to the MultiEQ Pro being integrated inside the 886 or was it a standalone box.

From the specs here, it seems the SC5507 is "only" EQ XT.

APPENDED:
The SC886 webpage
http://www.eu.onkyo.com/products/PR-SC886.html

In the features list, you can find:
*Including installation with MultEQ Pro software application and Audyssey Installer Kit

The SC5507 webpage
http://www.eu.onkyo.com/products/PR-SC5507.html

No mention of the MultiEQ Pro software.

Hope it's an oversight. I have heard the standalone MultiEQ Pro which needs the PC software to run (a cutdown version is available from SVS for sub calibration alone) and it does seem much more seamless.

The Stereophile review was done on an Integra (which is a rebadged version of the SC885)
http://www.stereophile.com/musicintheround/508mitr/

BTW, does MultiEQ now work on all 9 (or 11) speakers that you have hooked up?

Probably waaaay overkill for my modest room and setup but hey, excess is what this hobby is about right? Tomorrow it will be something different I'm sure. I'm hooked on the Emotiva stuff now so I will probably wait for the UMC-1 and then the higher end model, can't remember the name of it right now.

Yeah, I added that tagline when I started getting into CRT projectors. I love CRT and even though I have owned as many as 5 of them over the last few years, my total investment is still less than the little 480p digital projector I started out with. I guess most people go in the other direction but I quickly saw the difference between the two display types and while I won't stay CRT forever, I'm hooked for now.

The Pro refers to software and can be used with any of the Integra/Onkyo prepros, if you have the appropriate kit and licenses.

No such thing exists. You probably mean the Audyssey Sound Equalizer. Pro, at the moment, refers only to software.

Ouch

Forgot to mention, updated the images of the prepro on the thread cover. Also add the eu onkyo site for the prepro and an article on the unit.

Great to see there's a thread on the 5507, I'll be glued to see any future updates, MSRP, etc..I love the fact the dual .1 outs what I'm not clear though if they are stereo or just a extra sub out...I hope it's the former.

9/29 I also updated with better pic's

I mentioned this in another thread but I wonder why it says 887 on the rear panel? Maybe Onkyo changed the model number after the pictured unit was produced.
