Thought i'd get her started. Direct hardware updates and streaming internet radio,
no WiFi though. What else over the DHC-9.9? BTW i absolutely dig Pandora. Front
HDMI input also a must for the modern camcorders.

I'm glad they are sticking to the same design, maybe I can sneak this one into my home theater without my wife knowing I upgraded from the 9.8

One of the features listed is:
Audyssey MultEQ Pro / Installer Ready w/ Target EQ Curve Editing

Is Target EQ Curve Editing a new feature compared to the previous models?

Thanks

I'm going to get (if I get) a 9.9....the prices on those are great while supplies last....the internet streaming for the 80.1 is awful tempting though. I wonder if the 40.1 will do that?

so I sort of want to try this one....is it out and if yes, where to buy ?

I am not a Onkyo fan, but in this price range there's no other choices I believe if one wants XLR.

Lets just hope that they don't botch the user interface for internet features, like Yamaha did with the RXV series, where you had to go 12 clicks to just be able to access the cryptic radio menu.

Do you see where this all is going? Eventually receivers will have web browsing features, all media will be streaming, gone will be the Vudu, sat box, and cable TV. And please bring FIOS to the corn fields of Ohio

Target Curve Editing is a new feature of AudysseyPro. However, any AudysseyPro-compatible device can make use of it because it only affect the calculation process before the corrections are uploaded to the AVR or pre/pro. For example, my DTC-9.8 is now using edited curves.

I noticed that the specs list component video upscaling to 1080i. Didn't the previous models upscale to 1080p? Just curious.

subscribed. This looks really tempting. I wonder how it will compare to the NAD M15HD when it finally comes out.

Only if outputting via HDMI. Component outputs are limited to 1080i by design, so this is as one would expect. The question is, does it work with a copyrighted source like a DVD player.

Only 4 as opposed to the 8 (7+1 front) HDMI inputs on the Integra.

No balanced outputs. Oh yeah "not truly internally balanced" spiel, it is good enough for me that one of the 3 wires conducts away any possible external noise. Good news is Meridian, McI ,and ML have them, but they have to finish selling off their vinyl analog supportive equipment before they can enter the HDMI era.

A no brainer, unless the price is right, but knowing NAD i doubt it. Yep, as usual there is Onkyo/Integra and then the add $2000 to improve on it. BTW, two NYC outfits of dubious to say the least reputation have the NAD for around 3.5k out already.

Sorry, my first Onkyo ever PR-SC885P after Sony>Denon>SherwoodNC>AnthemD1>Yamahas(yep stagnated there had RX-V2700 and 3800). I am on the Onkyo fanboy wagon for a long time, cheap bxxxxxd that i am i can't pass up a good deal, most of my system components are AVS/Audiogon/Ebay hand-me-downs.

Kal i hope you are having a good laugh and don't take this bullxxxx too seriously. BTW, is that ES Sony SACD player with low internal clock jitter still spinning? Do you think the 80.1 will have HATS, then maibe i could pursue an en-masse upgrade to HDMI 1.3 with the 80.1, XA4500ES, and RS35 PJ. Better not or my wife will have me wear concrete shoes. Patience and stepwise upgrades fly better under the radar of the accounting department

It would be great if everyone implemented HATS/PQLS but, afaik, the only companies to do so are Sony and Pioneer, at the moment.

I currently have the Onkyo 885 prepro in my 7.1 setup HT room. I have a Projector and with the combo I only watch Blu-Ray or HD-DVD movies. I also listen to cd's, SACD's all through HDMI. I use the Audyssey set up and I'm quite happy with the sound. Would the DAC's in the new DHC-80.1 make an improvement in the HDMI digital format (Movies & Music) ?

Thanks!

Thanks Kal.

Seems like this would contribute to leveling the playing field across AudysseyPro compatible PrePros.

As far as I remember, upscaling for component inputs was always 1080i max.

The things that are attracting me to this years Integra receivers and preamps is the fact it has 2 count them 2 sub outs. Thats badass as now you can calibrate 2 subs independently from each other like the Pioneer ELite sc-09tx can. I find this to be extremely useful.
Then there is the 7 HDMI inputs and 2 outs which looks to be the 2nd out can be it's out steam. How badass is that???? I have tons of uses for that. I finally can share all my sources with my theater and masterbed using 2 cable boxes and have zone 2 or 3 be my in wall speakers in the masterbed. Thats way cool.
I can see so many possibilities with this years products. I love how our industry keeps growing and growing. NICE!!!

I wouldn't assume Audyssey processing applies to both sub channels.

Get confirmation before you buy if it's an important feature for you.

I would. What I would not assume is that it applies to each sub channel independently.

And that you'll be needing to send secondary (analog) audio to Zone 2. You cannot send audio from HDMI input sources directly to Zone 2.

Called several local dealers to check availability and the general response via Integra is "when the stocks of DHC's 9.9 run out then the 80.1 goes on sale.
9.9's are being sold with a Blu-Ray promo to try to move volume.
I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up with practical 80.1 availability well into Nov/Dec.

I would assume most already have a Bluray player. Maybe if they discount them 25-40% they would clear them out in a hurry
