Hey Everyone,

I suspect these questions have been asked a thousand times, but I did some searching and couldn't come up with anything really current so I thought I would throw it out there and see what happens.

I just renovated my family room installing in-wall wiring for 5 speakers and a subwoofer (Polk RM85 with PSW125) and an 25-foot HDMI cable run for a monitor all leading to an off-room closet where I want to install my av equipment. This room will be mainly for movies (DVD player is all I have right now but I might add more later) with some music.

1. Since I only have 5 speaker drops plus a subwoofer, is there any reason for me to be looking for anything other than a 5.1 receiver?

2. My budget for the receiver is around $350. Any suggestions off the top of your head? Is this too low to get something with a future (i.e. won't be out of date or out of ports too soon)?

I also just renovated my kitchen with drops for two speakers (Yamaha NS-IW480CW 8" 3-way) and another 20-foot HDMI cable run. This setup will be mainly for music with some movies.

I realize I could use the same receiver for both rooms, but because of where the closet is in the family room and the length of hdmi cable needed to get to the kicthen, I have decided to just put in two seperate systems.

1. With only two speakers, what should I be looking for here? Any suggestions? I don't want to get bargain basement here, but I realize I don't need much as will probably only have the reciever, a DVD player, two speakers and the monitor.

I appreciate any inupt you can offer.

Thank you,
