I don't have blu ray. Also not sure where/what balance you give to audio vs video. For me audio is 1st with video a close 2nd. But given that, my picks are:

DVD movies:
DTS5.1 = Moulin Rouge (w/Kidman, a modern musical, so skip it if you don't like musicals), Collateral (w/Cruise)
DD5.1 = Michael Clayton (w/Clooney), The Last Samuri (w/Cruise)

DVD movie soundtracks on CD:
exactly 2, which are
1) The Terminal (you can get a used 3 disc set of it on Amazon at a low price which includes the CD), and
2) The Thomas Crown Affair (w/Brosnan)

For that matter the DVD movie for both (Terminal/Crown) are also worth buying.

For CD try Elixir by Fourplay. Track 2 has some excellent transients.

IMHO, Amazon reviews are the better place to get a clue on the possible worth of a disc to you. I take what shows up on AVS with a BIG grain of salt.

Cheers

For Blu Ray, any action packed movie just pick your favorites as it is all good to go. Make sure you listen to the lossless audio track though.

Recommendations for staters:

Iron Man
Hulk
Casio Royale and Quantum Of Solace
Pirates of The Caribbean (any one)
TDK and Batman Begins

Most will knock your socks off!

I cannot remember that monster movie on BD in NYC filmed with a handy cam. The sound is UNBELIEVABLE!!
