Just looking at the back panels, the HT-RC260 is missing the Sirius input and the VGA input. Also missing audio inputs labeled "PC".

Sorry for the stupid question. If I have something plugged into a component input, can I output the picture using the hdmi output? Or do I have to plug in a cable from the component output on the receiver to a component input on the TV. I don't have this receiver yet as I am one of the many who have pre-ordered it from abt.

And in terms of the unit's depth that they specify on the Onkyo site, does that factor in the knobs on the front and inputs on the back of the receiver?

It is SUPPOSE to work - However since I have not received mine yet - I
can not Validate that it works. If it doesn't I will probably send mine back.

FYI - the MANUAL is online HERE - All your questions can be answered by READING.

I can do this with my Onkyo 605, although upscaling doesn't happen I don't believe. The 608 should be able to upscale any video input to 1080P. Have a look at the manual on Onkyo's website.

Works fine with my crappy motorola NON-HD setup box.

I have ClearQAM with HDHomerun (waiting on the cablecard version next month!) for most channels with my MediaCenter7 but some stations/NFL games are only on "extended basic" that are NOT clear with Comcast Chicago (and free with my Condo fees)

So works fine. Compared to the scaling of the Onkyo 606 it is night and day.

Agreed, but I think it gives a good reference. I would rather compare it to soemthign 2x more money and say the +/- than simply rave that I FINALLY HAVE A RECEIVER that just "works" no matter what I do

My comparison is this:

1. HDMI-CEC works flawlessly with Panasonic Camera, Mits 73", PS3 Slim for VOLUME, INPUT, On/OFF. Makes prgraming a harmony trivial.

2. HTPC support at 1080p works on ALL INPUTS. No need to create a custom EIDE to stop flickering

3. It runs cool

4. It runs cool

So while I only had the 807 for 1 week (flicking issue with 1080p HTPC, common problem), it is nice to see onkyo officiallysupporting HDMI or VGA computer hookups.

It is also nice to have onkyo make a product that runs cool. Seriously, I am still SHOCKED at how loud I use this forwith 7.1 and cool it stays. I hate to say "Denon cool" but this is close. Almost wories me

I was shocked at the difference between Onkyo & Denon heat on the 607... go to best buy or whatever where they are on ALL day & its a very clear difference...
When the 608 comes in there it will be interesting to A-B heat.

This is great news especially since it supposedly draws nearly as much current as my 605 space heater... I mean AV receiver.

For those of you who haven't read the manual, if you are only running this receiver with 5.1 speakers, and have some extra wire available, you can bi-amp using the rear channel amps. I don't know if there will be any noticeable difference, but it's a free upgrade.

I was just told by ABT:

Hi Michael, it all depends on how many we receive from Onkyo, your number it line doesn't effect it. It all depends on how many Onkyo ships to us. We should receive inventory by the end of the week or early next week.

Another week or two, I'm not that patient!!!!

I know this is NOT the proper place for this.. but...

I am new to HDMI-CEC ( as I just replaced almost ALL 8 year old A/V equipment).

My 608 will be here tomorrow and I am interested in how all this HDMI-CEC stuff works.

I have the following ( or will have Tuesday):

Onkyo 608
Samsung BluRay (3d, with AnyNet HDMI-CEC)
Samsung 55UNC8000 ( brand new LED with AnyNet HDMI-CEC )
Xbox 360
Wii

Harmony 900

How does the CEC stuff work and how does it interact/work with a Harmony remote?

What (If any) advantages would I have with using this HDMI-CEC stuff?

Actually upon review the HDMI-CEC question is pretty valid...
I recant & apologize

My TV has this

Possibly dumb question: if I hook up a sub to each of the two sub channels, will the Audyssey processing EQ them independently?

NO - NO SYSTEM on the PLANET will do that.

But there are Manual procedures you can do yourself.

Well that can't be right. e.g. The Audyssey sub EQ and the SVSound AS-EQ1 will both EQ dual subs separately.

I'm not buying one of those systems, I'm buying a TX-SR608. Hence posting in this thread.

Edit: The manual says "The same signal is output from each jack." That's pretty definitive.

Mine will be here wednesday. I was initially on the fence between the 608 and the vsx-1020 from Pioneer. After reading early reviews I think I made the best choice. I'm getting excited !

We have nothing to fear but fear itself... and spiders
