I just bought a Denon AVR-891. I didn't see much information about this receiver yet, so I'm volunteering myself: Ask me anything. I'll gladly experiment with my setup to answer questions.

Thanks!

Your offer would be much more beneficial if you posted in the Official Denon 2311/891 Owner's Thread.

Are you able to pass-through sound to the tv speakers while the AVR is in "stand-by" or off?

I'm looking at the 791 but this feature would probably be the same. I want my family to be able to watch TV sometimes without having to mess with the AVR.

Thanks

Yes, Denon AVRs (including the 791) offer this feature of passing HDMI audio/video through to the TV while the AVR is in Standby.

Thanks for pointing me in that direction. We can consider this thread closed. I'm not sure why my searches didn't pickup an **Official* thread for the 891. I promise I looked

i just purchased the 891, is it just me that thinks its weird that the subwoofer only works on 2 surround sound modes? is there a way to make it active on other modes? or make a custom sound mode?

Welcome to AVS Forum. Rather than resurrecting a thread that is over 1.5 years old, you would be better served posting in the dedicated thread for Denon 891 Owners as noted in post #2.

Also, as noted on p. 73 in your Owner's manual, the sub is available with virtually every surround mode.
