2. Can I use the 1120's video processor with my Xbox 360 to play games?
[quote]

You could but it will introduce lag that you would not want for playing games. Its best for gaming to run the 360 directly to the TV and set the TV on minimal processing (often Game mode or PC mode). If you really need to go through the receiver then you would want to turn off video processing and just have it pass through if possible.

That's exciting and curious. I preordered with Pioneer and haven't heard a peep since they prognosticated shipping the week of 7/12. It appears Pioneer is fulfilling orders to resellers while keeping direct consumer purchasers on hold. Interesting.

Has anyone received ship notifications from Pioneer? I called them and they said they are supposed to ship "this month" and couldn't guarantee anything. I found some other retailers who confirmed they had the 1120-K in stock so I cancelled my Pioneer order and went with a reseller...

You gonna compare it to any of the other comparable units (Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha)?

Life is hard. It's harder if you're stupid.

You would think Pioneer would have the 1120 manual online by now! Why all the delays?

I chatted online w/ ABT on July 1 and they said they would ship at the end of July so I wasn't in a hurry to order. I got around to calling them yesterday and apparently they had a few on the 12th and are expecting another shipment at the end of July. Damn, should have preordered! I placed the order yesterday at a very good price and, much to my surprise, they called me later to verify shipping and said it would ship today! So far these guys are outstanding!!!

Marvell, if the Qdeo processor, should be better than the HQV Reon XV. Realta is more similar to the Reon. We do not know what spec Marvell chip this is.

I would never, ever run an amp off a switched outlet.

Get a $20 energy saver power strip at target that will turn off the amp when the receiver is not on.

and it does have a 12v trigger - believe it's labeled control.

The Control port is an interface for other Pioneer devices with a Control port, basically an IR repeater. It is not a 12V trigger.

Well I hooked up the 1120 yesterday. Set up was a challenger coming from a Denon, Pioneer does things differently. Be sure to find the HDMI control deal and turn it off, or it won't let you assign HDMI to DVD, TV/Sat or DVR. I'm using it as a preamp except for the 2 back speakers in my 7.1 set up, so I can't comment on sound quality so much. Thus far I'm really pleased with the features, and the ease of use after set up. I only wish it had a trigger to turn the amp off when the receiver goes off.

Whats that about a $20 powerstrip at Wallyworld?

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

suzook11 -- Never, ever, rum a power amplifier from any switched AC outlet on any piece of electronic equipment. If you do, you will burn out the outlet, or even do more serious damage to your equipment.

Those outlets are only rated for less than 5 Amps (usually 1 Amp max). Power Amplifiers, usually, require a 120 V circuit of 15 amps, or more - especially the Emotiva ones.

Thanks but I have already seen all the different pre release pics.

I want an actual photo of a released unit to see which of the pre release pics are true/correct.

Couple questions for the first owner:

does the light button on the remote light the entire remote or just a few buttons?

is there an overlain volume/source display (not osd menu, but osd status display)?

What video tweaking options are there for digital sources?

thanks in advance.

The remote light, lights all the buttons, but not all the buttons are labeled on the buttons, so unless you happen to know which is which, you can't tell without lights on.

No, onscreen you can't see anything so far as volume, source or sound coming through.

Not sure what you mean about tweaking digital sources(audio or video?). As far as audio, just the usual switching to stereo, proligic and all the variations. With video, there are no options to do anything, unless there is a menu I haven't found.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

press the video adjust (upper left of directional/enter) and see what the fascia says. should say pure by default. scroll left and right for resolution and up and down for adjustments.

Ah indeed, there are tons of options for audio and video, had a feeling I was missing something. You can adjust video resolutions, set it to auto, different types of video noise reduction, as well as adjusting color and brightness.

Trouble is, you can't see them onscreen, only by looking at the reciever can you tell what your adjusting.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
