Is anyone out there considering purchasing or has purchased one of these. I ordered one yesterday and I'm hoping I made the right decision.

I would like to see a comparison to the new Onkyo 708. This seems to be a combination of the 608 and 708. It's power rated at 100w and has a power consumption of 6.3 amps like the 608 and is not certified for 4 ohm speakers. The 708 is 110 watts and certified for 4 ohm speakers. Both the 708 and Integra 30.2 have re-outs.

The 30.2 is a 608 with preamp outs. Both are the same weight - the 708 weighs a bit over 2 pounds more. The 30.2 and the 608 have Audyssey 2EQ - a dead giveaway that it is a 608 with added features such as 7.2 preamp outs and a 12v trigger etc.

Oh - the 708 has the same 6.3a current draw as the 30.2 and the 608.

Since they all draw 6.3 amps, I wonder how much of a difference there really is in power output between these three receivers.

Good question - if the amps are different between the 608 and 708 the 10wpc isn't going to be noticed anyway.

So I am essentially buying an Onkyo (608-708) with a better "shell?" IMO I think it looks cleaner than the Onkyo's. The 608 lists for $599 and the 708 for $899. I'm getting the 30.2 for $700. Is the $100 difference over the 608 worth the price or did I just waste an extra $100 on a new receiver?

Depends. Are you going to use the pre-outs? Maybe in the future....?

You say you like the looks better......that has to count for something.

Also you get a longer warranty by choosing an Integra.

Thanks, Easy. I don't have too much buyer's remorse...yet. I am a Marantz owner but it's about 6 years old and doesn't have any HDMI connectors so I figured it was time to upgrade to coincide with my purchase of a new plasma. Hopefully I get a great receiver that gives me the quality I'm used to with Marantz. The seller knocked off a $100 for some beer from the brewery I work at which is nice so overall I think/hope I made a good decision.

I'm certainly no audiophile but I know what I like so I guess we'll see.

Are you getting one or do you work at a store that carries them? Mine is due in Wednesday or Thursday and I'd love to hear what you think.

I'm coming from a 6 year old Marantz that I absolutely loved but it has no HDMI connections so time to upgrade.
